CPO or Not?

Hey all,

Wanted to get people's opinion on 2 different cars I'm looking at. Both are e92s from same model year with very similar options/packages. Major difference is that one is a non-CPO with x miles and the other is a CPO with 2x miles. Asking price differential is ~$2k more for the CPO. Which one do you think is more attractive?

I think it depends on how many miles is "2X". If you can get CPO and a decent warranty remains, I would always go for the CPO. On the other hand, it really depends on if you think it's worth paying the extra cash for it or not.

I don't necessarily DD my M, so if a repair does come along the way, I have no problems with repairs.

Whats the price and miles associated with each?

So the non-CPO has 15k miles and is going for $51k; the CPO has 30k miles and is asking $53k.

What model year? I'm no expert, but both are pretty low miles and I would want a CPO for some sense of security. So personally, I would spend the extra 2K and have a good CPO and warranty Sorry, I'm not much help!

2011 MY - so original warranty expires in 2015 and the CPO would go until 2017. I'm kind of a stickler for low miles, especially on these cars, but I definitely hear you on the security of the CPO.

I'd get the non CPO car and try to get an aftermarket warranty. That way you can bring it to any ASE certified technician including the dealership. That can give you certain advantages when it comes to warranty repair work.

At this point it just depends on if you want that extra two years of warranty! I would always go for it, you're going to love your M, and you're gonna wanna keep it!

CPO paid for my long block when my bearings spun at 80k.

Not CPO, and buy an aftermarket warranty when it's over. There's plenty of decent warranty companies that can provide similar coverage for close to that $2K mark. I paid $2100 for my warranty - they've covered every issue so far. And buying the car with lower miles and less money is just the smarter way. And.. $51K for a 2011 sounds awful high. Most 2011's are in the mid $44K-$47K even with low miles.
