If you think their cost is expensive, try bringing an M3 in Vietnam. Base M3 Coupe is $210K if they let you bring the car in. They only allow a certian amount in each year. If you know high ranking people, yours will be the only one. Imagine the resale value if you have the only M3 in the entire country. |

I'm surprised it hasn't been mentioned yet, but I'm pretty sure the emphasis on this special edition is the carbon roof.....because most of the M3's optioned there come default with the moonroof.
If you check out the pictures in this thread: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=420553 you'll actually notice a disturbing lack of carbon fiber roofs lolol |

For those of you just joining the thread, let me summarize the last five pages of posts:
Poster 1: "What a waste. Who would pay that for an M3. Another Special Edition that isn't so special." Poster 2: "A Base M3 in China costs double what it costs in the states. It's because of taxes, fees, tariffs, registration, etc. So isn't as expensive as you think." Sporadically insert a few comments about how cool the seats are, and how ugly the stickers are. Repeat the above for five pages...... btw, I agree the seats are cool, and the logo on the side has to go!

Summary is spot on! The irony is the posts where someone is nice enough to give the FULL rundown of how costs work in Asia will often be *immediately* followed by "whaaaaaaaa?! Extra 100k for that?!?!?"
I know it's the web and no one has the attention span to read a page, much less a thread, but the post RIGHT ABOVE? I mean come on! Lol |

funny someone comments so much with knowing so little about China's car market. The M3s have been on a discount sale of at least 20% off since last year. Mercs have even bigger discounts.

well, it's been a while sine I went back and looked at the ever changing auto market in China, if you read my subsequent post, then you would have seen that I acknowledged that my info has been outdated since 2006.
