Battery Shortage
My battery died of old age(3 /12 years) but there is, I'm told a nationwide shortage of batteries and mine is the 8 th car sitting at the dealer. Others have been there for weeks- no word on when batteries will arrive!

That's when I would just get an aftermarket one and call it a day. Even if the car is under warranty/ maintenance I wouldn't leave the car at a dealer for an extended period just for a batt. Lol good luck

I feel your pain! I dropped mine off last Monday (on a flatbed no less) and was told there were cars that had been there for almost 3 weeks already waiting for a battery. The dealer told me yesterday they were expecting to get about 4 batteries in per week and there are "quite a few" cars ahead of me so I should expect to wait about another 2 weeks.

Great, I read this the day my battery shoots craps. I'm out of warranty anyway so it looks like its aftermarket time.

This battery works perfectly. It is 92AH not 95AH. Deka/East Penn are OEM suppliers to BMW. From realoem- http://www.realoem.com/bmw/showparts...99&hg=61&fg=30 Important notice! ---------------------------------------- Compliance with the following information and instructions for correct battery replacement is absolutely mandatory! - ISTA Document RA_61_20_Instructions_for_battery_ replacement ---------------------------------------- For additional information, see: - Battery master document ISTA_Document_SI_61_07_02_(875) ---------------------------------------- The original battery (battery size and type) as indicated in the vehicle's order specifications must always be installed to ensure correct operation of the on-board electrical system! ---------------------------------------- If the vehicle is equipped with an IBS (Intelligent Battery Sensor), the battery must be registered via the diagnostic system (ISTA); this process also registers the battery with the vehicle's on-board electrical system. ---------------------------------------- Standard batteries can always be replaced by AGM batteries with the same specifications. Following either type of replacement, the vehicle registration process in ISTA/P must be supplemented by a vehicle coding procedure, which is carried out as follows: ---------------------------------------- Read out battery size and registration from onboard electrical system: ISTA->Service functions->Body->Voltage supply->Register_battery replacement-> Test plan ---------------------------------------- 01 Battery Fa.
