Price of M3 cheap compared to rest of the world

I'm sure this had been discussed before but I want to buy an M3 yet the higher sticker price of $73k loaded is crazy high in my opinion.

Then I found out the rest of the world pay anywhere from $100-200k USD after a conversion of course.

Take for example in Taiwan which is right next to china, this car probably costs $150k there due to tariffs. Considering the average 4yr college student makes only $1K US dollar a month, it seems impossible to obtain one without rich parents.

However, then I discovered people in some countries don't pay exorbitant taxes like we do in the US especially California. I paid nearly 34% in income taxes last year. But these people only pay maybe 15-20% and their cost of living is lower since food is cheap. $2 USD can really fill you up on the streets of Bangkok.

So which would you rather have it? High taxes, food and living costs with cheaper car prices or low taxes, food and living costs with near-exotic car prices ?

Why does it have to be one or the other? I want to select from both set of options!

I think most countries besides maybe Germany get the cars for a lot more than the US does. Be glad you live where it is somewhat attainable to own an M3.

I don't know about college grads... but I wish I could have afforded an M3 after graduating college! Given rent, living expenses, repaying school loans and generally lower pay for recent college grads, I find it hard to believe anyone can afford an M3 at that age unless you live at home with the parents or some kind of assistance financially.

Some countries have higher taxes and higher cost of living and pay much more than US residents for an M3.

When I bought mine in 2007, I paid $174,000 for a manual but fully loaded in Australia, that's with all the taxes mentioned below. Now due to competing cars like the C63 and Lexus ??, BMW is offering for ///3 around the $154k base price but will cost to include things like idrive, MDM, M-DCT, etc. When I bought the ///3 was fully loaded and couldn't option. No poverty packs then ...

We pay 33 per cent luxury car tax, goods and services tax, stamp fee (depending where you live and can vary), dealer delivery, on top of the high price BMW demand.

That's the price you pay to enjoy sheer driving pleasure, sir!

And dont forget the cost of fuel - sorry- gas, which, almost everywhere apart from oil producing countries, is substantially higher than the amount you lot pay.

My car cost just over $100k, I have to pay a marginal rate of more than 50% tax. and $10/gallon.....and dont get me started on the cost of food or heating my home, thanks to the green eco-zealots....

So enjoy your really advantageous position.

No autobahns, though.....

Overall, America is the best place to live on the planet.
In general, if you were born in America from >1960 onwards you are part of a group of the most privileged humans of all time.
Sounds like an absurd statement but factually correct.

We are also lucky enough to have good mechanics very close by to fix and modify our cars. It must be difficult to find a reliable M3 mechanic in some parts of the world.

The government takes about 30% of my paycheck I think. Then at the end of the year I get like 10% back on my tax return. They also take ~ 9% sales tax. It's really not that bad of a deal.

How much does a fully loaded M3 cost in Germany and what is the tax system like?

I think the price of a M3 in the US is the best in the world ... here in Canada we pay a higher inflated price ... then everything is more expensive in Canada.

In Germany I saw a M3 for over 100,000 Euro (some $132,000 US or $131,000 CDN). For taxes on a car purchased in Germany see attachment or Google

In some places like Australia, China etc the car prices and taxes are over the top.

If you need more info on German taxes check it on Google ---> Click here

What I like about USA is their easy access to all the tuners out there.

Every time I buy parts from USA vendors/tuners, it is never fun to pay the duties grrr.

Unbelievable!! Where does the premium amount from? Is the inflated price due to exchange rates, government tax, or is it due to the low volume of luxury cars imported?
