Iron X = miracle product
My Alpine White E90 had horrible rust spots all over its backside, and a decent amount down the sides of the car. I'm not sure if the winter exasperated the problem, but washing the car simply traded the appearance of grime for rust.
It finally warmed up enough to wash the car, and I tried Iron X for the first time. It's a miracle product. I was blown away at how well it worked simply by following the directions: wash the car, spray on, wait a few minutes, rinse off. The rust vanished. A decade I go I had to use clay on my mom's white car and it wasn't even 100% effective. God bless modern chemistry.

I think you're using the term "rust spots" incorrectly. One would naturally picture actually areas of rust which can't be fixed. Ironx is a very good product because it is able to remove all the iron particles from your paint making the claying step not only easier, but making sure your paint is as clean as possible before polishing and followed by lsp

I didn't think to snap any photos today. Perhaps I am using the term "rust" incorrectly.
There's still some flakes left so next time I wash the car and remove them I'll try to get before/after shots.

Rail dust?
Could be rail dust. I've had a lot of my cars have it. Especially on the ass end. It's really small specs of rust that is actually small particles of iron that comes off train rails when the cars are being transported. I see it all the time on cars.

FYI the Griots HEAVY DUTY wheel cleaner does the same. Just like the Sonax, spray on and it will change color and then hose off.
I also use this on the entire rear end of the car w/ no issues. Just spray on, let sit and change color and it will lift the iron and exhaust deposits (catless) from the rear of the car. Very good product safe for wheels/paint (remember most wheels are painted just like car panels) |
