Come up with a better argument than that plz. Yes the ZR1 looks sick, but performance wise you have no clue what the Vspec will be like. It's lighter(300-400lbs) and has more power. If it's priced the same, its up to the buy to decide. Personally, i'll pick asian engineering over american.
Pricing wasn't my main point - although it seemed like it. In the end, both cars are probably going to be priced very closely when you factor in dealer mark-ups (V-Spec vs. ZR1).

I would not be discounting American engineering at all. Ferrari and Audi are using the Magna ride controls that GM used for years - the same system that's used on the ZR1.

I just think the GT-R is plain Ugly - and I have seen it up close and sat in the car at the NYC autoshow (I was there for the premiere event the night before it opened to the public with BMW). The front end looks like a pig to me. It was shaped by the wind tunnel for sure. No doubt, this is a car that is putting the auto world on it's ear for the performance/$, but I would never buy one just because of the looks - I don't care about the badge at all.

Most people will think the ZR1 is a Corvette, but at least they'll know what it is.

I saw that car at Corvettes @ Carlisle last August. I spoke to John Caravaggio about the interior. It looks and feels fantastic. He uses hides from Europe.

Shame that you will let a brand get in the way of a driving experience.

You know... I kind of feel about that price tag like I do about the M3.

I'd rather buy a Z06 for $75k and mod it.

The 1/4 mile/0-60 times aren't mch better than what people are seeing out of a well driven Z06. The hp number is much higher though. That leads me to believe it will be much faster.

I saw a C5 Z06 knock 11s stock before. Haven't really seen a C6 Z06 run the 1/4 yet though, just online timeslips/vids.

More than 100k...

http://jalopnik.com/396780/dealer-go...rice-of-413000

The 2009 Corvette ZR1, GM's new mega-powered super car, will reportedly only be offered to the top 338 Chevy dealers nationwide. That effectively shuts out the other 3,594 from the chance of offering one to enthusiastic fans of the bowtied brand. We guess that explains the four-times-the-price gouging we're hearing about from potential customers. That's right, although the 638 HP 2009 ZR1 gets a price tag of $103,300 ($105,000 with the $1,700 gas guzzler tax) and Corvette engineers asking dealers to respect the MSRP, we've received at least one report from a reader of being told that despite his down payment 2 1/2 years ago, he'd have to put up between two and four times the MSRP to get one in his garage. If that number is accurate, the street price will be somewhere between $206,600 and $413,200 for Zee Really fast One. Full report from our tipster looking for recourse from someone — anyone — after the jump.

despite the reports of what one dumbass may be willing to pay, there are plenty reports of people only paying msrp or a little above for the car. People who are getting this car are people who have very good relationships with dealers or more money then brains. The people with good relationships are getting the car at the right price. The people with more money then brains are paying, well you get the picture.
