I get the most door dings from my own kids!...and yes they got a beat down......

Now I only allow my kids to get out on one side of the SUV in garage.

I am glad I am not the only anal one on here that cant stand to know and see door dings to the point that all of them have to be fixed.

I checked out Doordefender the other day, but for the life of me, could not figure out how it worked! They need a better website. So, you just stick it on the side of your car every time you get out of it (in the garage, of course)?

Like GT3 Tim above, my wife has popped my car a few times, and always appears to be just millimeters away from doing it again. I park with literally 1/2 inch to spare so she can have the most room to park, but somehow she always ends up so close to my car!

I got t-boned by a Corvette after 2 weeks of ownership and 300 miles on the clock. After I got that crap fixed, a pick-up truck with a stack of mattresses lost it's load right in front of me.. hit a mattress going 80 mph and destroyed the front bumper and steering-oil-cooler.

I'm at a point now where I don't get bothered by little dings here and there... I track the sh*t out of the car and don't even tape the headlights anymore.

Ever since I stopped stressing over it I started to enjoy the car even more.

I got lucky twice today.

#1. Office depot parking lot. As I walk out, I notice a white minivan pull into the spot next to my car. Lady gets out, walks into the store. I get up to my car and she's parked crooked, and at one place she's about a foot away from my driver's side door. Luckily she didn't have any passengers.

#2. At the post office. Keep in mind it's a federal holiday. ENTIRE parking lot was empty. I had some stuff to mail so I was writing addresses and stamping them with my door slightly cracked to let some cool air in. Guy decides, out of the whole empty parking lot, he wants to park right next to my car. At least he was careful getting out of his car.

Get the BMW OEM paint and then get the www.langka.com kit. Been using that for years.

I had a paintless dent repair guy do it once...had about 5-6 dings on the rear door. Turned out PERFECT. It's about time to do it again....what a PITA.

If the wife would be a bit more careful, we could save about $130 every six months...geez...either that or she can acutally PULL OVER TO THE FRICKEN RIGHT when she parks...but NO, she leaves like 2' of room over there. lol. FML
Car that parks on the left side of the garage pulls straight in (my wife). Car that parks on the right side of the garage backs in (my m3). That way, neither driver's door opens toward the other car when getting in/out of the vehicles.

Sorry to hear OP... I'm not really looking forward to this stuff once I return to the States. Here in Germany people are so much more considerate and respect other people's property.

There is one free punch on door dingers! Then they are sent boot camp to learn how the f**** they should open car doors....

I feel OPs anger, ohh how I hate door dings.

Fortunately my girl would never ding a door on any car, that was basic training 😎

I once sat in a car when an old lady forced her door in to the car I was in... I simply explained to her what she did and why I didn't like it. She had the nerve to lie straight to my face... The car for the moment was
a loaner.

I always park far far away, i actually chose were to shop or go based on available good parking spots.

I think I need help

A few years ago I had a Suburu. You think BMW doors are soft? A Suburu door can get a deep ding just from looking at it crossways. One time in the middle of the night I looked out the window as this guy was squeezing his truck in next to my car. Passenger flings open the door, smacking my car. "Oops! Dumbass shouldn't've parked so close! Hahahaha!" I was steaming! But I was not about to go out and confront a couple of drunk dudes. I had to live with it until I traded the car in a couple of years later.

Then there are the people who use the bump-and-roll method of parallel parking. My E39 has several bumper rubs and scrapes from that. I guess the funding cuts to driver's ed are yielding dividends!

I had 2 dings when I got my car. Had them fixed.

I just admire the carelessness of some people. I wonder what their life is all about.

Simple DIY dent fix

If it's a small dent that's not on a seem, try spraying co2 (computer cleaner) on it to freeze the spot and then immediately put a hairdryer over it. The temp extremes force the metal to expand and can pop out some dents. Hold the co2 upside down to make it colder.
