**AP Racing Radi-CAL BBK. E9x M3 Application. LOOK INSIDE

AP Racing, Radi-CAL Big Brake Systems

MRF Engineering is proud to announce that we have partnered with world renowned brake manufacturer, AP Racing. For 2013 they present us with their newly designed Big Brake System, the Radi-CAL.

AP Racing's Radi-CAL racing calipers have taken the racing world by storm, dominating the highest level of racing series on every continent. Whether it's open wheel, stock car or endurance racing, the Radi-CAL system from AP dominates.

The pressure forging process results in a strong, stiff caliper that is 20% lighter than similar cast calipers. Each caliper has been tested with over 500,000 cycles of pressure and torque to meet AP Racing's stringent quality standards. The non-symmetric design (due to the pistons being of different diameters) saves weight without compromising strength and stiffness. Calipers are double sealed and hard anodized aluminum pistons are differentially sized to maximize pad life. A removable and also forged bridge allows for easy pad changes.

Ultra wide rotors at 36mm, provide for extra air gap for cooling and increased thermal capacity without increasing weight!

AP Racing has been an integral part of championship winning Formula 1 teams (the pinnacle of motorsport & motorsport technology) and continue to be with over 700 Grand Prix victories.

KEY Features:

  • AP Racing designed and built calipers and rotors.
  • Custom designed and built kits for many applications.
  • Specifically engineered for road performance and durability.
  • Pressure Forged; lightweight calipers featuring non symmetric design.
  • AP Racing J-HOOK or Cross-drilled & Slotted Rotors
  • Billet mounting brackets & rotor hats.
  • Goodridge Brake Lines built to AP Racing specifications.

Very sweet stuff, Malek! Where do they fall in the price range between Brembo and StopTech?

Gentlemen, the pricing of this brake system is far more affordable than the Brembo GT kit and around similar pricing as the standard Stop-Tech system. We are also a big fan of Brembo brakes (naturally), however the Radi-CAL system is a step above the Brembo GT kits. Only the GT-R kit from Brembo is a step above, but at a much higher price tag.

Brembo GT brakes are cast systems. They do not offer the rigidity of the forged systems. The new AP system is forged and light.

If they can offer this system at the standard StopTech price, they'll have a HUGE win.
The only thing that may hold someone back would be pad selection and replacement rotor cost vs. the ST kit.

How do these rotors compare to the StrapDrive rotors?

The rotors employ AP racings newest technology. The "Classic" AP BBK has the strap drive system.

The new systems are forged, full floating and J hooks along with all the latest technology integrated within the rotor assembly.

But if they don't fit under 18's and there are not currently any race pads available, then what good are they (other than the bling factor for whatever that's worth)? Also, it looks like access to the bolts are internal so that makes it a serious PITA to change pads.

They have 2 size applications.

If you intent on running 18's with low brake clearance, than the smaller 370F/380R sizes should be used. If using 19's, then the 390F/380R can be used without any issues. I will test their template on common 18's (APEX, Volk, Advan) to check clearance.

The bridge fasteners are very easily accessible as well.

Sweet setup! Any specific pricing available yet? If the above ballpark figures are true, the sub-brembo GT pricing for forged rotors is pretty legit!

With all due respect, I don't want to jack your thread. However, there has been way too much incorrect and misleading information out there.

Stoptech calipers, both regular and trophy are forged, NOT cast!

I've had a fairly lengthy conversation with Stillen about these new AP brakes. They indicated that these won't fit in an 18" wheel. Apparently, the Radi-Cal calipers are massive compared to the older ones. The pad that fits in the new caliper is 2cm taller than the current pad shape.

They seem to be willingly throwing the entire 18" track wheel scene out the window with this new product. For now, they seem to be focusing on the 19"+ bling street market........I love AP products, but this is a bit of a bummer.....

If you somehow find that these do, in fact fit on an 18" wheel, I would be curious to hear about that. But Stillen didn't leave much hope for that.

The 390MM/380MM does not fit the 18's, the smaller 370MM/360MM size however does fit most 18" wheels.
