"LIght steering input" feel

Gents happy owner of a 2011 'vert, and love just about every aspect of this car. My prior M was the E46 model, and this one is hands down better.

Is it just me, or does the steering in the new M feel "overly boosted?" It feels super light to me, unlike the E46 (or my 2008 911S), in which the steering felt more solid. Maybe they purposesly lightended it up to allow for easier inputs, etc., but its not my fav. I have the M setting in Servotronic on sport. Also, I checked another typical culprit regularly(, i.e., tire pressure) regularly, and that can'y be it, as I am running 35F/35R cold.

Any thoughts/insight would be appreciated.

put your Servotronic setting into "Sport" mode.

It will reduce the power assist by a lot in lower speeds that you are feeling.

Sorry, missed that you had it in sport mode already.

Generally, the front suspension components of the M3 are pretty light, its going to naturally feel lighter than the E46's. The E46's components were far heavier.

The E92 steering rack is a major upgrade compared to the E46 rack.

The tire pressures I run on my M3 are 36 front and 41 rear. I don't recommend 35/35.

Maybe they compensate for the heaviest M car ever produced by boosting the Servotronic for the e93m3?? (just a thought)

I felt the same thing initially, but now after a few months my feeling is that it only feels overboosted at really low speeds. Anything over 20mph starts to feel great, and I probably wouldn't change the power steering at all at normal speeds if given the choice (I don't have m-drive) but I'd probably reduce some of the assist at low speeds.....maybe. I have gotten used to one handed parking
