Tuned vs untuned video
So dyno info is nice but any tuned m3's have video's against stock m3's with the same mods or lack of mods. ie. both catless, air filter etc with only difference being one is tuned and one is not.
While I believe the dyno gains, I would like to actually see what this equates to from a rolling race. Just curious what 10-15hp looks like in action |

Just search for 1/4 mile comparisons vs. Stock Times/Trap Speeds

Honestly 15horsepower isnt gonna be much of a difference.
However thats 15 peak horsepower, you need to look at how much power youre making throughout the curve, thats whats really going to help in a race. |

I don't have a video but I made a post when I got tuned and posted pics of my stock dyno and tuned dyno. Stock dyno was with k&n filter and OEM exhaust mod and then with tune. I also added test pipes after which gained and extra 8whp. So stock was 353whp, tuned was 379whp, and then test pipes was 387whp. Have not posted that dyno pic.

For how many people get tuned and promote tunes, there really is nothing I can even find on youtube or anything showing any basic comparo runs with 2 cars before vs after (1 being tuned the other left stock) |

There is a good vid of this exact thing somewhere on this site. The tuned/ bolted on M3 was impressive. I'll look around and see if I can find it.

Yes I would love to see. Sometimes we all (including me) get caught up in dyno numbers but being a business guy myself with several of my own businesses, I never get from a marketing standpoint why tuners do not post a whole bunch of runs between their own tune on cars and OEM or other tuned cars. Would really ramp up sales as people are very visual and dyno sheets are one thing but the aural experience of listening and watching a FBO tuned car run away from a stock car would entice many to buy a tune.
THe problem is since nobody seems to do this my fear is there is not a lot of real world difference. |

Cool, that was a neat video. Looks like it has much more effect on the slow (from 0) races. But definitely a noticeable edge in all races. I've wondered this myself OP. Wonder what 40whp would look like (tune + test pipes hopefully).

That is a great video! Not going to lie, that is a far bigger difference than I expected!
As Porschefile questioned, I'd love to see what a full bolt-on, primary cat delete, and tuned M3 would do compared to stock.

I would like to see more comparo's as well since we all know some pretty crazy youtube video outcomes and not that this is unfathomable but definetly way more than expected. It is more like a car with 50 extra whp would pull that hard.
Maybe the red car was not starting in the right gears or something-who knows but that was really bad. |

What part of tuned vs non-tuned was in that video. It clearly states exhaust and hi-flow cats vs stock.

The comments section mentions he has an AA tune. I believe the guy is a member on here, so maybe he can comment.
It was awhile ago, but I think the gearing or driver was questioned on another thread. But if he's DCT, what really can you do wrong, assuming he starts in the correct gear. |
