Can you use an OIL SUCTION pump to remove engine oil?

So, I have a pump to remove oil that slides down the dipstick tube in my other cars (that have dipsticks...) and the m3 doesn't. Can it be slid down the oil filter hole to the bottom of the sump? If it is a 8.75-9qt system I'd like to get at least 7-8qts out minimum.

Are you able to get all the dirt at the bottom of the oil pan using this method?

I'm assuming this is a smart assed response....

Better off having a tiny bit of crap in the bottom with fresh oil every 3-5k sucking out the oil and doing a filter and draining every other time (6-10k) than having that very same dirt in there the whole time for 15k.

The path from the oil filter to the oil pan is not a straight line or gentle curve like engines with a dip stick. The M3 (S65) engine uses a dual sump oil pan that has front and rear separated oil sumps. The oil filter is mounted to the front of the engine. If you some how magically were able to get the plastic suction tube into the bottom of the engine you would not be able to reach the larger rear oil sump. There are two drain plugs because of the dual oil sumps.

If you get the plastic suction tube stuck in the engine your crying will last a long time, and cost about a life time of BMW oil changes to remove.

Thanks, this is all I needed to know. Absolutely hate not having a dipstick.

But it's so much easier without.....
Warm engine about 6 miles, stop car on level surface with engine running, and push the oil level reset, wait less than 1 minute, bam oil level reading.

No dirty hands, no towel searching, no hood popping, you're still sitting in the temp controlled cabin. When has oil checking been this easy?
If you're still wanting the old days pop the hood and rub the engine while you are waiting for the reading to update.

When engine oil level drops below 1 qt. you get a level warning while driving.
The same sensor tests the oil condition for the Condition Based Service (CBS) system. No more window stickers for oil change reminders.

After teaching auto repair for almost 40 years, I find this system better for the majority of the population. Dip sticks left out of the engine, dip sticks damaged and tubes broken off at the engine block, and many owners that NEVER check the oil level.

Sure, just remove the oil pump and everything else between the filter housing and the bottom of the pan. Then you're good to go

Even if your sucking out the oil, how much are you really saving by not changing the filter ?

TPMS malfunction came on and had to go to dealer and have it fixed. They did a low mile oil change for free but forgot to reset the reminder that its due 2/14 and 3700 miles? or can i reset this.


Effort is what im trying to save. I get under the other cars and do a full drain and filter about every 10k(or 1x a yr) and 4-5k just swap 95%of the oil with a 5 minute no tools procedure.

The dealers, per BMW, should NOT reset the computer, after an annual low mileage oil change. You make out. Otherwise you wouldn't get the next free oil change for 15k.

So you are saying in 3700 miles or the date on the service I will get another 10w60 tws oil change for free?

Yes, if that is when you've racked up enough miles to light off the cbs computer.
