Where do you apartment/city guys wash your cars?
I live in an apt complex where I cannot wash my own car. I've been taking it to the better car wash places but I'm usually never happy with their work or it gets really expensive to go somewhere where they actually do a half decent job.
Has anyone tried to self car wash things? I checked one out but it seems you only get 3 minutes so you have to either keep paying for multiple washes. This seems like a better option as I can wash/wax my car myself. |

yes, self-car-wash thing. I use one that takes CC and quarters both. Usually don't need to go through more than 2.5 cycles, the CC method keeps clocking until you hit stop. I use a bucket and sponge between the foam and pressure wash cycle and the rinse cycle.

I use the self wash bays too, but I bring all my own supplies (soap, sponges, two buckets, etc) and only use their spot-free rinse.
I usually end up having to pay for 2 car washes, but it gets the job done when your in a pinch. Soak the whole car, soap the whole car, rinse, (repeat is desired), dry |

go to a spray bay and bring your washing mitt, bucket, soap, micro's etc.
Spray the car down and fill the bucket up. Hand wash your car, spray it down again and then dry it. Go later in the evening so people arent there if you go during the day you wont be able to pull it off because there will most likely be a lineup. Or you can go to a friends house and wash there. |

I have the attendants in my garage in Manhattan wash the car. I supply all of the towels, mitts, supplies, etc. and frequently work with them.

Just a caution to all of the guys who bring their own supplies to the bay type DIY car washes, if the owner finds out about it, he might not be happy. Ask me how I know.
OP,to answer your question, I am lucky enough to be able to use a faucet near my garage. |

Yes there is a sign that says no hand washing. BUT what's the difference between touching your car with a 4 foot scrubber and using your own washing mitt?
As long as the water is still flowing I think you should be fine. If it's the busiest time of the day then you may look like a jerk, so do it when it's not as busy. |

I use the spray wash to get the basic cleaning done. Then I bring it home and go over the whole car with micro-fiber and detail spray. The wheels sometimes require more work. Hand wiping the car with a spray detailer only takes about 10-15 minutes.
