Help with a paint correction
So after hand washing my new acquisition I found a few scratches the dealership was able to blend with their detail.
It a appears to be all surface scratching. (Maybe just the clear coat?). Looks like a shopping cart..... Am I going to be able to get this out with a paint cleaner? (Sonar paint cleaner?). Or am I going to have to do a full on paint correction? Any help would be appreciated. Thanks all! |

Those looks rather deep. Can you catch it with your fingernail? I think it'll be doubtful as far as getting that out with anything short of a rotary in the hands of a pro...
As a point of reference, mine had surface scratches that was probably caused by a brush while scrubbing the car clean. Couldn't catch with fingernail and visible only when light hits it. But, the paint correction pro had to go with his toughest cutting compound/pad and took 3 passes. |

Hard to tell with just photos but paint correction should get that back to very livable state of affairs. Don't think the Meguiar's will get it done.

If it doesn't catch your fingernail and it does not come out with compound, I'd try a very light (2500+) grit sandpaper and wetsand, compound, and polish the section.

^ Good idea. If you are an amateur I would just use some aggressive compound on a microfiber towel by hand. Push fairly hard but it will still take forever. If it were me I would probably wetsand and then polish which would take a bit less time. Even if you can catch it with your nail you should be able to get it out but its hard to tell from photos. If you can't feel it with your nail then you will be able to remove it no problem but only remove as little clear as possible.
