Press Release: The intriguing character of BMW M cars is further emphasised by the BMW M Performance range of accessories. These complement those available for the BMW M3 and include new products for the power train, the suspension, aerodynamics and the cockpit and have now been extended to include other models. Wing mirror covers and a rear spoiler are available for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe. These accessories are manufactured from carbon fibre reinforced plastic (CFRP), handmade by BMW. In addition, an eye-catching BMW M Performance kidney-shaped radiator grille is available in a black, high-gloss finish.

The BMW M Performance range of accessories for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M allow the driver’s own distinctive personality to shine through. For both models, 21-inch BMW M Performance light alloy wheels in double- spoke design, a BMW M Performance carbon front splitter and a front grille in black are now available. In addition to the BMW M Performance rear spoiler and the BMW M Performance tail fins in black, model-specific BMW M Performance side skirts underline the dynamic elegance of the BMW X6 M. Perfect control and an authentic racing feel are provided by the BMW M Performance steering wheel, which is available for the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M. It has an Alcantara cover and a rim that is designed with a flat section at the bottom. In addition, it sports three-colour M stitching and a centre marker at the top in racing blue.

The BMW M Performance range of accessories has now also been complemented by an attractive new innovation in the field of design. The BMW M Performance side stripes for the BMW 1 Series M Coupe, the BMW M3 Coupe, the BMW M3 Convertible, the BMW X5 M and the BMW X6 M refine the distinctive appearance of the BMW M, adding an exclusive sporty accent to the vehicle.

21 inch rims?? So now BMW is turning the X6 ///M into an Escalade? While you're at it BMW, why don't you include people's names written in diamonds. It'll add even more 'bling'. ///Marketing at it's finest.

So, what is available for the power train and suspension??? Okay, I'll be the first to say that the stripes look stupid. I already have the black chrome kidneys on my car - they've been out for a while. I'll need to talk to BMW NA and see who writes these press releases!

If I add these strips to my non-ZCP M3 will I finally be as fast as a ZCP car?

No chance.

It is actually not surprising that BMW is doing this... I mean look at their special edition cars, majority of them are cosmetic.

LOL!! Well done..

Anyway.. not a fan of these stripes. Some of the custom work done on this forum with subtle M stripes near grilles etc have been much nicer.

Is this is a joke?....Because those stripes really suck. As an M owner, that's embarrassing.

They look absolutely ridiculous. Sad to see the M brand being cheapened to below ricer status... and by no other than BMW itself .

Simply from a business standpoint there is OODLES of money to be made in the aftermarket scene and look at how many people here alone bought the M performance exhaust and look at how many 335 guys have the performance exhaust. They could be raking in more money if they offered some true performance upgrades for the m3 instead of plastic pieces and a wing.

Starting with a nice brake upgrade designed specifically for the m3's characteristics. Also some lowering springs that lower it 0.5 inches and work well with the suspension so you do not have to worry about replacing the entire setup if you just want to lower the car but not want to have a springy/bouncy ride with compromised handling like you do if you just randomly put on aftermarket lowering springs.

I think bmw is frankly missing the boat on a lot of money. Not just for the m3 but every performance line needs to offer more meaty performance
Completely agree. There is a boatload of money to be made here, and likely people would pay a premium price for upgrades that came with a BMW warranty. Brakes (ceramics even!!), performance mid-pipe, short shift kit, upgraded shift knob, intake, ECU tune, better aero parts, etc, etc. Not sure why BMW hasn't jumped on this for their M cars. Maybe they feel their M cars need no further tuning? Still, i think they are missing a nice opportunity for everyone. It would be a win-win scenario in my book.

Oh, and those stripes are the lamest, most embarrassing thing I have seen come from BMW....ever. WTF?!?!

Compare these stripes to the graphics they used on the E36 M3 lightweight. What a joke. Still wondering if they really announced any performance stuff for the M3 here.

At first I thought "OOOH, a Performance part I can add to my M3 without voiding my warranty".

And then I thought "Wonder what it is."

And then I thought "Hope it's something good - like a supercharger!"

Right here is where I read the article.

And now I think " Weak sauce BMW. Way to ruin my evening."

I wonder if this announcement is the delay on the availability of the new M PERFORMANCE STEERING WHEEL II? Meaning they will become available after announcement at the Frankfurt show next week.
