BMW M3 idrive can be updated to new one?

I'm considering buying a used 2008 M3. Could BMW replace the old idrive with a new one?

you probably could but the money youd save by purchasing a used 08 and retro fitting the new idrive it would most likely be cheaper to just buy a 2009+

This. Not worth the effort and expense of attempting a conversion. Even the display itself would have to be swapped.

you're prob better off dishing out a little extra dough and get an 09+, it'll save you the time and trouble like the other guys are saying

Theres a guy on the forum who sells the conversion. It costs 3k+ and he has to code your car from Poland.

I would save the trouble and just get on '09.

If you can find a 2009 M3 with iDrive and to your liking within $2500 to $3000 of the price of that 2008 M3 then it will be better to get that 2009 M3.

If not then... http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=428428

BMW will not perform that retrofit, but you can do it if you are a DIYer.

I did that retrofit and it works 100% OEM: http://www.bimmerfest.com/forums/sho...d.php?t=454413

Next retrofit in the works is the new Combox features (2011.5).
