Post How to get more bass power

I've been reading some of the posts regarding this but can't come to a conclusion about what to do. I have the enhanced premium sound in the 2011 coupe and while Im happy with the overall sound of it I feel like its missing some bass power (probably because im used to having 2 10in alpines in my old 330). would you recommend putting and aftermarket sub in the trunk? if you have any recommendations it would be appreciated. thanks.

Have you adjusted the EQ yet? I find a good adjustment to dial the system in can make a big difference.

ipod EQ off or flat, then I do a sort of U-shape with the Car's EQ

the middle part are around + 2 or +3 while the ends are around +7 or +8

I usually listen to blues rock or anything with a good guitar solo but the setup is also good for pretty much all other types of music.

hope this helps

I believe this setting will be to your liking.

1. set surround setting to stereo.
2.bal/ middle.
3.Fad/one below middle.
4.Tre/ all but two marks.
5.Bass/three passed middle.

EQ settings: (100,+10, 200,+3, 500 -12, 1K-10, 2K-11, 5K+3, 10K+10)

This should give you the full rich sound you are after. "Anything above middle is + and below is -".

If after this you still need more punch, You will need (1) good 4/5 channel amp Rockford, and (1) LC-6 Line converter, And (1) JL 10 in a small box.

did you look into upgrading the stock subs to earthquake SWS subs and powering them separately?

Yes, you could. It would be pretty much exactly the wrong gear, but you could do it.

The LC-6 is primarily used for summing channels together. It's not needed in our cars to add a sub.

To get more bass-power, why would you want a 4/5 channel amp?

Some of the JL woofers sound OK. The WX and W0 aren't on that list. And why have a "box" in the trunk? Several folks on the forums have fiberglass molded enclosures for a single 10" that are far better looking and sounding than an MDF "box".

What a lot of folks do is exactly what end mentions - replacing the 8" with SWS8, and then using an amp on them. We use the Zapco DC amps with a BTL attenuator. Lets us get lower bass response and damp down the peakiness.

That is the most extreme smiley face EQ curve I've ever seen.

If you want to do it with out overloading or over heating you stock system, you would. Because your bypassing the factory amp, If you want. And yes, LC6 To split the channels so that you can use the stock amp for the highs and mids and the 4 channel bridged for the subs.. I have this in all my cars while still using the factory head unit, And it works perfectly, With out shut down or clipping... CLean, Simple and inexpensive, And easy to reverse. Some people don't want to rip up there 70k+ car, or pull out factory equipment, Or spend 2k on extra unessasary weight.

The OP did ask for more bass from the stock system, and this is a very good setting to hit that mark. "Come on" You know you changed yours to this exact setting.

Hi, Thanks for the settings. I been looking for something like this to be posted and I must say, my system does sound much stronger. I have better Highs and lows sound pretty deep. Can't wait for the drive to work in the morning.

I don,t get it. I used these Exact components in my Mercedes, And Audi, But used Clean Sweep instead of LC6, And MY system Rocked. When I sold the cars I took it back to the installer and it took them less than a hour to put the car back to stock. I had no problems with that set up and it only cost $650 for parts and labor. How much does what your saying cost?

I have premium sound and messed with my EQ, etc, etc. but still found it lacked decent bass for my liking, so I got some JL Audio Stealth Boxes, added a nice amp, etc. and am very happy.

Just an option....... http://mobile.jlaudio.com/products_s...hp?fit_id=1608

My pleasure Sir. And the power bug is always on my mind too so don't feel guilty. I too decided not to add anything else to the Rocket as far as extra sound components. But here's another tip, Add 1 more dot on the 100k, 1 more dot for the Tre and 1or 2more dots to the Bass, And don't be afraid to give it some Volume, It can handle it.
Enjoy.
