how to run wire for adding center speaker?
has anyone added a center speaker to a HIFI system?
i want to install one, i already have the speaker, and i have the hole for it already, all i need is the grill, which i ordered today. i want to install it to see what it sounds like with the MS-8 has anyone added a center speaker? i am curious how to pass the wire from the front passenger footwell to the top of the dash. |

I was thinking about this too. I suppose you'll have to remove a bunch of panels to get around behind everything. Removing the center dash trim (pretty easy, pops right off) then the center vent might reveal a path up to the center speaker, IDK for sure until I do it. I've popped off almost everything else at one time or another but haven't gone back to the center speaker yet. Good luck.
Cheers.

Do not, under any circumstance, pass the wire down the center of the car
Shredded both of my hands today but did manage to make it all the way to the trunk Hooked up the Ms-8 Built in amps suck! Need to hook up my amp again but this unit sure has potential |

What's so hard about running down the center? I'm going down the drivers side since that's where the amps are but if you take the center console out it should be fine.
I thought you said the MS-8's internal amp was enough power for you? |

so i had to take out the rear ashtray, then the rubber mat behind it then the small compartment behind that. cut my hand in like 8 spots no the internal amps are definately not enough, will just use them for rear channels but i don't want to add the amp till i figure out the tuning etc don't want to have too many variables |

Ahhhhh, yeah, that'll do it. lol Did you use the OEM harness or your own wire? It was only about $15 so I ordered one form Tischer. Worst case I don't use it and run my own anyway. We'll see. My biggest issue now is placement MS-8 and the 5 Morel passive crossover. I'm pretty sure I can get both amps in the OEM amp location (possibly the MS-8 as well) but those passives will be fun. Hopefully if the MS-8 fits with the amps Io can put the passives in the storage compartment. I was thinking about putting them next to the speakers but that woudl suck to tune.

i was hoping that all cars use the same harness and that i would find a spare connector just hanging there, but of course i did not find it whats the part number of the loom you bought? i ran my own speaker wire and soldered on the OEM speaker connector so it just plugs into the center speaker. my MS-8 right now is in the middle of my trunk with my soundstream amp next to it they are held in place by bungee cords i don't mount everything till i am finished with the tunining etc because if i do, i will instantly need to make a change to gain, or crossover or something and i will need to pull it all out again so i keep it on the floor as a murphys law warranty |

Here are the part numbers I got from Elias (Technic), 61126928611 and 61129225828. I ordered the second one. On realoem.com it looks like the second superceded the first one. It was $4.80. Sweeeet.
I'm kinda hosed for tuning since my sub sits on top of where the amps will be so I'll have to move it evey time I need to make a change. Ugh... Oh well, it keeps it out of the way. At least until I decide to fire it through the ski pass. |

But even if i buy this cable
And assuming there is a socket I can plug it into Where is the other end? The end I have to hook up to an amp Do you have the trunk trim for for the cars with a changer? You get a lot more space with that |

TBH, I have no idea since my cable hasn't shown up yet. I figure if it is full length then a couple of repair wires could be able to be inserted into Elias' harness. If not, no biggie, it was less than $5.
No, I have the standard side panel and the enclosure for the BM is already done so I won't be adding it anytime soon unless I decide to run both BMs up by the back seat. Then I'll swap it out and I'll have plenty of room. |
