Wheel is good as new!

Well, I gotta say BMW tire and wheel insurance came through. I scraped up the front passenger rim the day I picked up the car. Took it to a local dealer with a copy of the insurance. 3 days later, it's good as new. I don't know why members say it's not covered under the insurance. Here are couple of shots.

I just bought a 2008 E90 CPO with 19s and the dealer pushed the wheel insurance VERY hard, but pointed out that it only covered physical damage that prevented the car from being used (or used safely.)

Sounds like you got lucky.

Yea, I just had a wheel scrape and I got rejected by the BMW wheel insurance claims when the SA called. He recommended I call them, so I did, and they said they didn't cover cosmetic-only damages and rejected my second attempt.

I cancelled the policy. I paid $1500 for 5 years in Jan2011, so I should be getting most of that back. Then I'll have to fork over $120 to have BMW repair it. I tried getting a recommended local guy to repair it, but I called him twice, arranged a time to meet, he never showed up at his garage.

I'm just going have BMW repair it when I take the car in to switch to the winter tires. In the end, unless I damage multiple wheels and tires over 5 years, I'll make out better than $1500.

I don't get it. We all purchased the same insurance by BMW, not a third party insurance. Why is there such discrepancy? I originally purchased to protect myself from flats and cracked rims. NJ/NY roads are horrendous. I got the 5 year plan for $1300 in August. I just followed other members in the area. I didn't know this, but you can only purchase this protection at the time of sale. They didn't have to push me on it, I wanted it and am glad as hell I got it. Then, I read upon a thread where members were discussing what's covered/not covered. I'm sorry to hear that some of you didn't get it covered through the insurance. This is ridiculous. I'd have still gotten the insurance had it not covered cosmetic damage. Wish you guys luck!

Flemington in Jersey. It's a hike for me, but many members including myself had great experiences with them.

Can anyone speak about how they actually repair the wheel? Seems to me that if the solution is filler and paint then it might not stand up too well to car washes (for those of you who use them).
