Exhaust that is relatively quiet at low revs and loud at high revs?

I am trying to find an exhaust that won't bother my neighbors but will sound great WOT and at high revs. I had the AA, and liked it a lot other than it being pretty loud with cold start and having a considerable amount of drone. I got noise complaints for the cold start AA.

Any exhausts y'all know of that are (relatively) quiet at low revs and scream up top?

I'd prefer to stay pretty low price, so no akra or valve exhausts.

Full exhaust or just muffler? Sounds like maybe dinan could fit your bill

my car is pretty quiet driving around but unbelievably loud under WOT. Cruising on the highway it's almost silent. Really the best of both worlds. Sport muffler + catless exhaust

Probably just a muffler for now. I'll eventually do a primary cat delete and tune.

Thanks for the feedback.

no muffler only is gonna sound loud upstairs as the cats quiet it down. Must remove the cats to get noise all the way to 8k. Otherwise intake noise takes over.

I would say Eisenmann Sport or M performance exhaust. Let me know if you are interested in either setup.

Get test pipes or xpipe with hfc. Keep stock muffler. Its exactly how you want. Identical to stock at normal driving and loud high pitch at high rpm. No rear section will give you that. And you'll get 20 who to boot

how about a valved exhaust like an Evolve E-tronic? http://www.evolveyoure92m3.com/evolv...ronic-exhaust/

it sounds great, looks like a million bucks, and you'll save weight.

I thought the Dinan rear section was a waste except for the weight loss. The tips require a lot of care and maintenance or they start to fade. Then looks terrible with two faded black tips and two dark black tips.

IMO, deleting the cold start and modding the OEM exhaust is the best way to achieve a quieter startup and more top end volume besides going with an exhaust with a remote valve like the IPE.

Engine sound is going to overwhelm most axle-back exhausts at high RPM. You need to start removing resonators and cats to really hear it inside the car at high RPM.

Corsa is like a poor man's valved setup. Even with test pipes, it shuts up completely--and I mean, completely--under 3,500 RPM. But when you get up to 4,000 RPM and beyond, holy moly this thing screams.

The Dinan and MPE are similar, but I have little experience with the Dinan.

If you are just looking for an axel back and aren't going to touch the cats, go with the MPE. It sounds the best of anything IMO and it's always good to stay factory whenever possible.

If you are going to touch the cats, I'd go Corsa or Dinan, but preferably Corsa.

Thanks, all. Leaning toward Corsa. I would like to do a cat delete, but I really don't want to add to my cold start drama any more than necessary.

The MPE fills this bill but it's a big bill. Its essentially a straight through bullet muffler at wot, but at lower exhaust velocity the flow diverts into the silencers, pretty cool design but you have to choose your xpipe carefully if you decat
