How is the Interior fit and finish, compared to the M3?

I've sat in the new C6's. Its not nearly as good inside as a BMW. Honestly it still feels like your driving a 20k-30k Chevy This is the one area they really need to focus on in the next C7, get some European designer to come over and design them something really nice and DON'T USE ANYTHING from the GM parts bin! They need to start fresh and new!

The only Vette experience I have is from Bondurant, the car was great performance wise but the build quality was shit but then again those things are ridden real hard and put away wet daily. Sort of wish I had checked out a ZO6 before I bought, maybe next time.

I think the Corvette is the best buy in a performance car period, but it is not comparable to an M3. I would fully expect the Corvette to be faster, after all it has more power, less weight, and is much lower to the ground, but it has 2 seats not 5 and that puts into a totally different category. I am in the indecision creating situation of not really needing a 5 seat car, or anything else in particular, since I have several other cars in my driveway, but the M3 really seems like a wonderful compromise. I have had a 740il and I know that the 3 series is not really a 4-5 seater for full sized adults on long trips, but I could put 4 people in the sedan for a short trip without feeling I was torturing my passengers. The Corvette is great for a drive with a friend but totally impractical for anything else. You can't pack enough baggage for even two people to go on a comfortable road trip, and even shopping could be difficult if you were buying anything other than a few bags of food.

I guess I am showing my age thinking about practicality on a performance car but after driving kids to school, soccer, blah blah blah, for so may years I just can't see a Corvette as anything other than a really cool toy for driving when you have nothing in particular to do.

Congrats OP! Always loved the Vette. I've had mine going on 13 years and I still love it! Mine is a 95' rag top.

Your car reminds me of a big gray shark, with those gill slits in the front! Sharp looking car, I'm sure you'll enjoy it!

Nice nice!! I had an 08 z51 package vette. Got hit by a hit and run and sent me flying into the desert totaling the car. I lost my down payment and luckily had gap insurance to pay it off. I was saving up for a z06, and then I found the M. Yeah the M is not as fast an had Bad gas milage, but it's something about it that calls to me. Enjoy your GS, they are great fun!!

I owned both C5 and C6 ZO6 cars. Both were great cars, and I put a lot of hard track miles on both. I expect I'll own another some day. Comparisons to the M3 are not of much value, IMO. I can honestly say, a track season in a ZO6 (or GS) will teach you more about car handling and improve your driving skills more than you will ever achieve in the M3. I found the build quality in the C6 exceptional, and yes, the seats suck.

Guess the GT500 was a no go

I have had several C5s and C6s, a lot more engineering involved than a lot of people think in those cars. Interior isnt the best, but its a lightweight sports car so something has to give, the 08+ interiors are more than acceptable.

LS3 is a modders dream and runs pretty damn good stock as well. I love the GS, Z06 look and LS3 reliability.

But the M3 has something the Vette doesnt have, a back seat, if it wasnt for that I'd be driving a C6 Z06. Road noise is quite a bit more in the vettes for sure but you get used to it pretty quick, once again weight was key in the sound deadening department. I really cant compare the M3 with a C6, two completely different cars, except for them having four wheels and a V8 they have little in common.

I miss my c5z06 for the rawness and dont really like the c6 because its too soft and refined. I hope they inject the fun back into the c7, I'll be very tempted if they do!

Not a huge fan of the Vettes...

Stepped into my friend's C6 and liked a lot of things about it (amenities, low seating position, shape etc.) - including steering effort & feel.

Looking at the tires on that thing I thought, man, this thing will have massive grip and really fly, I was ready to be impressed - but no, it was similar to the M. Now granted this was a regular C6 not a GS or Z06.

Thinking about how much less tire the M3 has, how much more weight and how much less power/torque, I am more impressed with the M3 overall than the Corvette. A sentiment echoed by both my C6 owning friends who drove my car.

There is no reason to flame me, it's just my opinion. If I wanted a 2 seater sports car for track adventures I'd get a S/C Exige, a Cayman S or step up to a 911.

I would totally love a C6 convertible though, with a nice exhaust.

Welcome to the club!

I suggest you get the Mild2Wild switch so you can keep the exhaust open all the time. Let that v8 be heard.

Congrats on the GS. Fantastic car.

Put these seats (Caravaggio) and these door panels from Apsis in it and you are golden.

Those carvaggio seats look good. They have got to cost a fortune.

John Caravaggio lives near me and I see him all the time driving his Z06. That thing is insanely fast and looks amazing. His body kits are some of the best looking kits for the Vette.

There is a huge difference between the z06 (and even gs) and the standard car. The difference was even more so with the c5. I drove a base c5 back in '04 and didnt like it AT ALL. I actually wouldnt want it if it were free. Then I drove the c5z06, woh, that car is a different animal, I immediately had to have one. Before you form an opinion on the vette, you have to try the bigger ones. I gave up a lot coming from my z to the m, and I only had a c5 z06.

Fair point.

I wish I were in the market for a 2 seater, to have problems like these...
