yea thats what i figured... considering that 14 hp more on the e92 end doesnt make up for 1000 extra pounds

I wouldn't want an e30 M3 with 400bhp. I'd rather have about 300bhp coming from a high revving, small-displacement inline-6.
If we're talking fun to drive, then there shouldn't be a comparison. If we're talking about having just ONE car to own and not drive, then I'd rather have the e92 M3.

yea i wasnt very clear with my question
I was wondering which is faster and my assumption was e30 because of the basically same amount of bhp with 1000 less pounds of weight on it, but of course to own a car and drive every day you would pick an e92.

I would take a mint e30 in stock form just because it has no electronic gimicks, just straight sports car.

you would get owned if that was your DD. no protection. it's like a tin can against modern cars. you get t-boned by a careless driver and you can say bye bye.

But you're probably right in that most new cars will own an e30 as a DD.

i've driven both
and owned both both red with black inside and there is nothing i have driven that compares to the E30 except maybe a boxster such immediacy in all the controls although i love my E92 M3 it doesn't compare i would still buy a new E30 if it was out even though i know it probably sucks in safety but i'd enjoy evey mile i drive and if i died in it, i'd die a happy man and i'd be remembered as "the guy who died in an M3 E30" |

No comparison.
The E92 is the first BMW I've liked the look of and as far as the E30 goes it would need the chassis from the E92 to handle the power. On std suspension setup it would be undriveable. I think people get caught up in the emotion of the thing. The steering will be slack compared to a (decent) modern car. The suspension will be complete cack. I drove a friends 993 recently and was stunned how badly sorted the suspension was compared to my old WRX. It was constantly caught out by combinations of bumps etc. By comparison my old boxster S was spectacular. It was bog standard with no traction control or LSD but it was great over bad roads and in the wet. That was modern fun at its best. |

e92m hands down.
the e30 classic comment is getting old. It is like compare a pretty girl in the ancient day vs a pretty girl today. Sorry, but I will take the modern one please. |
