Repaint or Replace bumper M3 E93

A neighbor hit my car in my driveway.
I feel the car has lost its purity.
Looking at this, would you replace the bumper or just repaint it?
Would this be CarFax or AutoCheck if it is repainted?
I will be filing a claim against that person's Insurance company (FARMER)
I am planning to use the dealership collision repair shop.
I was quoted 675.00. Bumper removal. Paint. Bake. And reinstall bumper.
I FEEL the PRICE IS too LOW. Shouldnt this be in the 1200-1500 range?

Thanks

Repaint, that's not bad at all. A bumper respray should be no more than $500-600

No need to replace, just repaint it.

Any competent body shop can fix that. I don't think a new bumper is necessary. $700ish sounds about right.

And no, it probably won't show up on a CarFax or similar report.

price sounds right. Damage looks minor. By the time the other person pays their deductible, they should have just given you the cash to get it fixed - vice documenting the incident with insurance companies.

DV

I'm thinking about filing a DV claim as well.....given the fact if this shows up on Autocheck/CarFax, the value of the vehicle has decreased.

Although cosmetic.. Other then the bumper being offset 3mm to the left (possible loose clip or broken clip)....

WOuld a diminished value be feasible in this case?

Fitchbass: I believed her deductible was at 500.00.... I got another estimate at $1062.00....

Thanks

Being offset three mm could be anything from a broken clip to a damaged reinforcement bar uunderneath.

I had the same scratch on the front bumper of my girls 335 and had it repainted by a very well known shop for $300 bucks , I would not go through insurance IMO that will be listed on your cars history and deffinatly hurt you more in the long run . It's your neighbor have them write you a check I'm sure they don't want there insurance rates going up either...That's a win-win for both sides

$300 cash is exactly what I paid for similar damage as well. Funny, the shop was in Merrick LI too. North Shore collision. Hugo is a good guy.

$500-600 is the going retail rate for a bumper. Any more than that is a rip off.

I've had two of my previous cars with the same damage. One with a hole in that exact corner. I had it repaired both times for 250$ with perfect paint match.

The three bodyshop I went to require:
Removal of bumper
Epoxy resin repair if necessary....Repaint. Bake. Buff.
Reinstall bumper.
I requested spraying the adjacent panel to blend in.

650.00 from AUtonation BMW collision
1065.00 From New Look Collision

I tried talking to the neighbor, but she doesnt have the money...Offer payment plan of 75.00 a month... I respectfully decline.

300.00 from Midas..(as a joke...it was down the street from the BMW collision place)

I'll go with the repaint....but if there are damage to the clips on the bumper (built in)...I am trying to request a new OEM bumper cover.

I guesss if it is going on Car Fax/Autocheck....I am going to do a diminished Value claim as well... =-)
