The way things are going the GTR is going to be a limited run. They keep adding things you can't do in the warranty and raising msrp every year.
Think about it, if you track your car and have tranny issues. Then you need a new tranny, that is $20,000. |

Harsh. Would the cops be able to legally read your black box and see if you were breaking the law (speeding) if you were to crash? How detailed and what information does the box store?

I am beginning to think Porsche wasn't crying wolf. Why would Nissan void your warranty for tracking the car when they specifically blew their horns about record lap times and have separate tracking service schedules along side normal ones. Are they hiding something?
I went to M school and the instructors were pushing me all day to drive faster and harder. After I did, then they SHOWED me what my M3 really can do. BMW - FTW Nissan - EPIC Fail |

More troubling for owners is why Nissan would so severely restrict the warranty coverage, I can only think that the car is just not durable for anything other than moderate street use. Otherwise, they'll be paying out warranty repairs way past the initial loss of the original selling price. I believe they sold the car at a loss which is why the MSRP is continually making large price jumps.

It's just frustrating. I think the idea of just not buying the warranty up front and getting the car for much cheaper probably, is a great idea. |

It's crazy alright. Way overboard and I'm sure they wouldn't get away with it if someone was in a position to challenge them in court but one thing to note is that if you take your GT3 or M3 out on a track day and blow up the engine or gearbox both Porsche and BMW will tell you to go choke before they'll cover it under warranty.
No manufacturer will cover damage on track days etc. |

No true. I personally know that Porsche will replace motors even from track use under certain circumstances. However, if you catch a level 5 overrev your out of luck, and skill.

The way I read it is that Nissan states they will not cover PROBLEMS related to racing, dyno, track use, etc... Meaning if you go to a track and blow the engine, they will not cover it. If your wheels fall off on the dyno, they will not cover it.
They only will VOID your warranty completely if you fuck with the ECU.

His post is based on personal experience, and Porsche overnighted an engine from Germany w/ no questions asked...despite having all kinds of mods that would have given them a ready excuse to void the warranty (they even bolted the aftermarket exhaust and plenum to the replacement engine).
