Getting Old? Exhaust drone getting to me

Guys,

I hate to admit it but after a year, my Remus Race has finally gotten to me. The drone in cruising RPMs is too much for me to bear.

Up until now, the looks and low end sound outweighed the drone, but I cannot compromise anymore.

That said, I need a new exhaust. The obvious choice is the Remus Sport as I must have chrome slash cut tips, and I've read good feedback about the lack of drone.

I would love your inputs on other systems that might fit the bill as well.

Thank you.

Thank you. My exhaust experience is a sobering reminder about the amount of thought put into OEM parts.

As another example, the tips of the Remus Race fit so closely to my bumper that during track days with intense heat, the tip actually touches the bumper and over multiple sessions, the tip has melted a section of my bumper, which will now require a re-paint.

I suspect my modding days might be over

Ouch..yeah I have done the OEM exhaust mod (single perforated pipe method) and have found it to be just enough...

I hear great things about Corsa. I myself have the Revinora exhaust with silencers on which eliminates almost all drone.

Lol It happens man. Outside of flogger cars in real life I hardly know anyone that had a very loud exhaust option on any car that didn't get rid of it after a time. Its only on the forums where I see people that say they have been living with it for years and love it.

If I were you I would try and start hearing your options at gtg's. A lot of exhausts have some drone and that includes the Remus sport. Any exhaust you have read about where someone types in anything along the lines of "band of resonance" "easy to drive around" "just a bit of vibration that quickly passes" etc etc. Those exhausts all drone, dont let anybody kid you. You may be good with that lesser drone as compared to what you have or not, no way to know without taking a spin in a car that has the cans you are considering.

Ditch the Race & try a Sport exhaust. I wouldn't bother putting OEM back on.

Before I even opened this thread I had a feeling you were talking about the Remus Race. I know how you feel sometimes...but I'm still young and the low end roar/howl is very intoxicating!

If you want to put the money, M-performance. Great sound, absolutely no drone.

My embarassing answer is that I am not sure. I basically just replaced the mufflers, so I removed the stock axleback and put on the Remus Race mufflers.

I am glad you have the patience sir, but I did a 4 hour trip to NJ yesterday actually and the drone was just intolerable.

Did hear the M performance at a track day and am seriously considering it. The cons are that it still has the droopy nuts look and the tips are not slash cut.

Thanks for being honest OP!

LOL! The only part of your changes that is true is the willingness to let it go for cheap! Honestly, I am ready to get rid of this thing.

M performance...amazing sound..

I painted the "nuts" as you call them with rustoleum engine enamel and they disappeared.

Looks fabulous, and I love the titanium tips.

M performance all the way! Best choice i ever made and no drone whatsoever!
