For the first time since high school, I drive a sedan.
And could not be happier.
After an extensive 7 month search, I finally picked up an '08 E90 M3 in DC last weekend. Stats: Private sale, one owner, 17k miles, 6 speed manual trans, Black on black, garage kept; car is literally near brand new inside and out. Impressions: The car is just incredible. I finally had a chance to open it up yesterday on some... umm.. closed / private roads.. and the car just doesn't stop pulling. Im no race car driver, but in comparison to the E46 M3, the car feels so light and nimble in the twisties, and the sound and power out of the V8 revving to 8,000+ RPMs is fantastic. The driving comforts are ridiculous. I have the extended leather option where everything, including the console and glove box are covered in leather. Adjustable suspension, navigation, I mean the car does everything but tie your shoes for you. One of my favorite things is comfort access. The key never leaves your pocket.. walk up to the door and it unlocks, sit in the car and just press the start button, then just walk away and it locks. Pretty cool. Plans: I installed 19 inch Competition wheels, color matched reflectors, and black grills this weekend. I would like to do something about the white piece in the tail lights, and the stock exhaust is a bit quiet. I may do the OEM exhaust mod, but dont want to over power the sound of the motor. I will keep it mostly in the garage, as I have a DD that is much better on gas, and will lower the risk of losing my license on a daily basis Yes, I do plan to take it to the track. Regrets: None so far. I feel I got a fair deal on the car, so far it seems solid, and its a blast to be in. I do, and will always miss my E46 M3, but life is short and I was ready to try something else. Congrats! Always love hearing the new owner joy. Sounds like you found a really good one.
The white portion of the '08 tails is part of the reason I went with SSII. Are you getting the blackline tails, the ones that are all red, or replacing the trunk?

Thanks !
I actually found these tails.. They are just like the 09+ without the cost and hassle of buying and painting a new trunk ! http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=811304 |

Definitely recognize that signature from M3f. Congrats ont he new E90. Just took my car for a mountain run yesterday and this car never stops impressing me. Absolutely get the OEM exhaust mod, best bang for your buck mod IMO.

It's also hard to gauge as these lights are all on non-M3s and IMO, they look really wierd. |

Thanks for the kind words guys !
I will post pics on my M3 as soon as they come in ! And not sure how they dont look right ? The only difference (other then the LED lights behind the lens) is the white part is now red like the updated 2009+ LCI tails. |

http://www.ebay.com/itm/170984564244...84.m1439.l2649 Better deal than $600 shipped ones from Australia and are pretty much identical. The LED bars and turn signals look factory, fit is like OEM as well. I'll try to get pics of them on the car today - these totally transform the rear of the car on 2008s. Doesn't look dated anymore. Anyways congrats on your new e90 - you will never get tired of it! |

You guys are really putting eBay and Mars performance (?!) fake LCI taillights on your M3s? And you really think it looks good? It wasn't a tip-off that all the cars sporting them are 320s?!?!
I mean good lord, aren't used M3s still $40k? Pony up and do it right, either OEM Blacklines or a proper LCI conversion. If it's worth doing, it's worth doing right. Edit: Congrats on the new ride btw, lol. |

I think they look fine but the $600 price is way too high from MARS. Most places sell these at $200-300 overseas. Unfortunately there is no American importer for the all red ones. I picked up a set of OEM Blackline taillights instead. The clear reverse triangle looks ugly on black cars. On a light colored car, it looks ok as you don't notice it as much. On black, it stands out.
