Why don't we do a meet on In & out in Oxnard. A lot of tuners are hanging out there, I was thinking we can all roll in together and show them what is the "Ultimate Driving Machine"
i know some of those guys. a few of them were racing with me back in the late 90s. most of them are newbies though. they're pretty much about parking lot pimpin at this point. some are looking to race. but the real ones that want to race still go down to compton or the valley on a weekly basis.

I get nothing out of going to that meet other than seeing people in ricers do FWD burnouts in the parking lot while endangering all the people around them. Plus the people there dont go to appreciate cars and partake in the enthusiast community. They just 'dog' people out....not worth your time if youve never been.
maybe thats the feel you got... but i get respect when i roll out there. the older guys that are there (possibly dogging you out) are actually the guys i grew up with. i know you told me when you went but my buddies that were there said they didn't know most of the people their that night.

yes, some of my friends look like their dogging people but in reality they're wondering what you have under the hood and commenting under their voices how much they dig the car, the possibilities of wanting to spend money on a car like that, or wondering if they can even afford it.

i was about to go off right now but i'll just say this... its natural in the car scene. Now when talking about just a BMW meet, then most people will appreciate. when you start mixing different makes and models (without rules), it can get hairy and the competitive edge and nature come out. It's been since the beginning of the car scene and it's not just in Oxnard.

Jason, lol don't get all heated! When was the last time you have went to that meet? If you have friends there I would love to meet them because I am sure they are cool people. But 95% of the people there are kids.

When I say competition, I meant it not in a friendly way. Maybe competition isn't the best word. Its just a really unwelcoming vibe.

not heated haha... oh it's been awhile and i'm sure there are kids there. but going one time shouldn't have you make a full and complete judgement like you did. but that's your prerogative.

just remember... alot of the guys that are organizing meets that are organized with multi-makes of cars were also a bunch of teenagers who thought it was cool to burn out in a parking lot and showoff. heck, i know a few officers that used to like doing that stuff back in the day

I went to the Oxnard/ Camarillo meets a few times in years past and thought it was an absolute joke. Shady people flat out lying about what they were running, trying to hide mods, or knowingly down play their turbo size, boost pressure or use of spray, ect. It was my first exposure to that side of the "scene" and the dishonesty among everyone I felt was pretty sad. "Bone stock" civics trying to race 300hp tuned cars for money, mustangs claiming they are stock when you could hear the blower whining, ect. I guess its normal in some places and some of you may be used to it but in other places there really is such a thing as enthusiasts getting together to enjoy cars with no deceitful motives or shady angles. Maybe its the betting and money involved, i dont know. I wasn't surprised at all when that local shop got busted several years ago for stealing and chopping tuned cars.

Haha, impressive. You know your canyon roads well.

You're lucky to live so close to these great roads. You should join me one of these days.

Yeah, I tend to take people (usually female) up there all the time. It's surprising that so many people didn't know we had such beauty in LA. They think it's all just suburban or city views
