BMW drivers are often pleasing the cliche, so we are a-holes as well, amongst Teslas, Acuras and the rest of the lot.

Why can’t Civic drivers turn off the high beams? Don’t Civics have the blue icon on the dash when it’s on?

One of the Car & Drivers this year had a piece where the lady drove every generation of M5 to compare. She commented that BMW’s just beg you to be bad. Lol, yeah. I do zip around but I never tailgate and let people in front of me religiously. (They can’t cut you off if you let them in, little jewel for highway serenity) Still get plenty of haters though.

You're stereotyping. Asshole drivers drive every make & model of car on the road. Courteous drivers also drive anything and everything.

Not everybody fits into your little biases.

^^^This!

I'd add that regardless of vehicle, a hole drivers tend to attract other a hole drivers. So......

Never seen an a hole tesla driver, actually only seen the opposite. They seem to drive the speed limit and drive pretty conservatively. Of course in different cities I'm sure that's not the case.

Yeah the only place I've noticed a-hole Tesla drivers is here in LA, but that's due to the culture of the region and the types of people who live here.

Anywhere else I've only seen nerds/non-car people driving them, generally at or near the speed limit.

For me - Altimas, Camrys and larger trucks take the cake...

the people with bmws and upper end cars doing stupid things in my area is vastly lower as it is far pricier to get into those... now w leases thru the roof, I expect we will see even less

Curious... how exactly does one tell by looking at a person if they are a nerds/non-car people? Follow up question... can you be a nerd car person? Or does the nerd qualification automatically put you in the non-car person category?

I think that the non-car people consider anybody who would say s/t like 'I swapped an s55into an E36 and swapped the SMG" to be a nerd, so it is all relative.

To each their own I suppose. I have a different take on Tesla and Tesla drivers altogether.

I have 5 friends and a son who have Teslas from across their product line. The only one I haven't driven is the Plaid. Very impressive to drive. Much better than I thought it would be. Sure there are fit and finish issues, but overall, I'm quite impressed. None of the people I know who have Teslas drive like a holes. Their reasons for buying Teslas have been mostly centered around technology, tax incentives, and reducing gas consumption. None of them bought their Teslas to show off their quickness to ICE-powered cars.

While your tuned RS-5 may be super fast (good for you), there are most certainly Teslas that can leave you in the dust if they chose do do so. There is ALWAYS a faster car out there. ALWAYS. Besides, anybody who racing on the street puts themselves square in the middle of the subject of this post IMO.

I love BMWs, I do, but my next car may very will be an all electric. I'll keep at least one ICE vehicle, but I think Tesla has force the market to move faster toward all electric than that wanted and that is a good thing for car consumers.

Very interesting. A lot of tribalism going on here. And no, I'm not pretending to be above it. That tribalism is a big part of what makes us Hooman.

I used to work for Tesla and know people who drive them. Many if not all are that type. The car enthusiasts I know in my life don't drive Teslas; the types of people who peruse forums, go for morning canyon runs, cars & coffee, etc.

But I will say I spend a lot of time in the Bay area and Seattle area, so the local economy definitely skews the demographics of the Tesla people I know and see.

I think the problem is the definition of "car guy". I actually think most guys we consider car guys are not really car guys. To me the most in your face example of a true car guy is someone like Jay Leno. This guys owns everything from old antique crank start cars to exotic cars to electric cars. That IMO is a CAR guy. On the other hand you have the "car guys" who are obsessed with muscle cars, anything that's not a V8 isn't even considered a car or someone who is into porsche and they've only owned porsches and only buy porsche and know everything about porsche... IMO that's a porsche guy, not a car guy.
