This is not that uncommon of a problem. The RS6 crowd used to replace their struts with very nice expensive Ohlins. There were multiple stories of noise from them. I think this is a problem associated with using a shock designed for racing in a daily driver environment.

I wonder if someone could get a set of EDC dampers rebuilt with different fluid. Redline makes shock fluid if I remember correctly. There is a very good shock rebuilder at Sears Point (http://performanceshock.com/). Get Jay, Redline and the rebuilder talking and you might end up with an EDC system that works better with stiffer springs.

Welll I'm not sure I agree because the noise was not constant (i.e, I've had the struts be totally quiet for a few weeks and then begin to make more and more noise over time) and the performance of the shock seemed to degrade as the noise got worse. My understanding is air gets in and the noise begins. So Moton's belief is fix the leak fix the noise. Hopefully they are right.

I worked out a deal with BW and Moton to return the kit. Both of us did the "give a little get a little" routine....

Sounds like a interesting idea. Will follow-up with Jay.

Thx!

Nice to hear they worked something out with you. I have to say, the GC are making me rethink the KWV3's

Do you have EDC?

I will call GC today or tomorrow to see what they can do for ppl without EDC. I was really happy with their stuff on my e46 M3.

Good luck with the new set up Barry.

I would be very interested to hear your review on the different feel of the kits on the same track. Please let us know.

And the GC's are less than half the price of the KWV3's.

Here's some pics of my kit that will be here on 2/18:

Front strut assembly with my EDC strut:

Kit will be installed on 2/22 and I'll post impressions then. Looks very nice!

BTW - the cost was $899. Take that Dinan!

899 for springs only, or are there other components as well?

If this is a spring only kit, how much is the drop front and rear?

He just posted pics of the whole kit. Its not just prings. Its springs, camber plates, in which I believe Barry also got the camber/caster adjustment ones, and bump stops, ... Also, the springs r height adjustable and edc compatible. I think this is as close as edc compatible coilover as well get. Placing my order tom.

It's everything in the pics, bumpstops and rear shock mounts. I'm going for approx. 1" drop.

Now that's a nice looking kit. Dinan's don't look so good anymore!

Barry,
Did Jay give you a few choices of spring rates? I'm curious to see the range.

I contacted Jay today. He confirmed the kit works for non-edc suspensions as well.

Here is a recap of what the kit includes and an additional pic:

The kit comes with:

Street camber plates (that allow use of EDC wires)
Adjustable ride height conversion for the stock struts
front springs, 3 choices because they have to match stock damping. The
stock damping is pretty good however.
front sway bar brackets for strut
front sway bar end linkls (adjustable)
front bump stops

rear ride height adjustment
rear bump stops
rear ride height adjustment
rear springs, 5 choices to match front.
rear shock mounts (GC "hybrid" exclusive), allows use of EDC wires

I am really starting to lean toward this - pretty impressed
