HELP: Anyone wrap their full car in 3M gloss black?
Hey Everyone,
I've been on the forum on and off for the past few years, I just sold my previous car (E90 335i with full bolt ons) and have an offer for a pretty good deal on a fully loaded 1M. Only problem is, its orange. Now, I have nothing against the color and I think its pretty awesome actually. It just grabs too much attention and I like keeping my cars relatively low key. (from a styling perspective) I don't want to repaint the car, but I'm now considering just wrapping it in 3M 1080 gloss black. I've heard that the gloss black material isn't the best for a full car wrap because it scratches easily and will be hard to maintain... is this true? I spoke to the guys at 90210 wrap over the phone and they said that they've only wrapped roofs in gloss black and not a full car so they can't tell me from experience. Any help/advice would be greatly appreciated. Thanks

I think you've already answered your own question. I suspect that your suspicions are correct.
I say rock it as it is. With lime green Ford Fiestas and bright orange Prius Cs cruising around these days, VO is not a crazy color. I mean hell, I see Chevy Cobalts in a similar color all the time!

I would stay away from the gloss black. It will indeed scratch easily.

I've always had an itch to wrap my car in that color, even with my E90. I just don't want to seem like a douche driving that around

I dislike wraps personally. Most of the places locally don't do a very good job either. I've seen some members cars up close who have had them done and they've been far from good. It's a lot of money that I think could be spent elsewhere for accents or other mods.

I love my matte black wrapped 1 by 90210. I'm currently converting it to a 1M and will be wrapping it again in matte black. It's one of the few colors that looks really good on the 1 series!
