Additional Cig Socket under Passanger Footwell

Hey Guys,

Need some help. I am wanting to add another cig socket in the passenger footwell. I ordered this http://www.amazon.com/Motorcycle-Cig...otorcycle+12+v
I am just having a hard time wrapping my head around this. It came with no instructions. But if I assume that the black wire is the ground and the red wire (that has a fuse built in) is the power and I can just use an Add-a-circut and tap into the fuse box (similar to the way I had my radar detector hard wired). can any one help me out with this!!

Thanks in Advance.

Your right about red is power black is ground. You can run it off of a mini fuse tap. Use the existing cig lighter fuse.
I have had my valentine one radar for years on e9x platform off of a fuse tap with no problems. You should be all good. It's very simple

Great thanks. Can the add a fuse take both of the 20amp fuses? I thought they were limited to 10 amps in each slot.

I don't know what you're planning to do w/the extra adapter, but you can move the adapter from the ashtray and stick it over there. You can get the sunglasses holder tray to replace your ashtray altogether so you won't have a hole, and you'll pretty much double your storage space out of that compartment.

That way, you don't have to worry about fuses and tapping and the like.

This is the route I am now going. But I am trying to figure out the process of moving the cigarette power. Anyone have a DIY. Really what I need to know is if there is enough wire to move it from the center counsel to the passenger footwell.

Thanks.

Was just in there to get the radar detector installed... Not sure it's long enough...

Success! No more coins falling in the console and sunglasses fit. If you want part numbers let me know. Ended up using the cig lighter from the OP instead of the BMW one. Use an add a circuit into the home link fuse. Had to sand down the joke a bit to get it to fit. But works like a charm. Enjoy. Btw the one from the original cig will not reach the hole in the footwell.

Looks good! Didn't know if you knew this or not, but there's a sunglass holder that uses the ash tray lid and what not.

^ I did know that but wanted it to be more sizeable to get my full framed sunglasses into. The one with the lid limits the size of the glasses that can go in.

Do you mind telling me where you get the tray at? I'm looking to do the same to mines.

Is that PN for the one with the door or without? I don't like the look without.
