Larger tire sizes on OEM 19s...

Has anyone upsized to 255/285 on OEM 19s?

If so...what sizes exactly? I want to stay as close to stock ratios as I can obviously.

255 on the front would be OK. 285 would be a bit pinched, and significantly change the sidewall. 275 would be a better choice if you want to do that.

I currently have 255/275 PS2s. 275s look perfect. 255s look just a little big for the rim.

Lucid...what specs exactly? 255/35 and 275/35?

My issue here is I need new tires pretty badly... The RAC GB is 4 or 5 months out...so i have to buy now. Trying to figure out if it makes more sense to upsize tires now, that i can transfer to the RACs when they come...or do i buy stock now and sell them?

I am in the exact same situation and that's why I went with the 255/35 and 275/35 setup when my tires recently wore out. Those sizes are perfectly fine on the stock 19" wheels. You won't have any problems or anything. The 255 looks just a bit too big, that's all. RAC wheels will be 9"/10" so 255/275 would be a good fit for those. You can go 255/285 or 265/285 as well. I suspect 265/285 would be OK on the stock rims, but I'd check the chart on tirerack (Michelin's recommended rim width ranges for any size tire are listed there).

I'm also buying a set of RACs. If I had to buy tires now that I intended to transfer to the RACs, I'd purchase PS2s in 255/35 and 275/35.

Chris, didn't see your name on the RAC list a bit ago. Check the thread and add your name, so we can get the ball rolling. You'd be the 20th name which is the minimum for Shep to get the development funds to Japan.

Check out the pics in post 900 here: http://www.m3post.com/forums/showthr...234632&page=41

The rim protector part of the tire hangs out just a bit too much in the front. That's all.

Also, as you go bigger/taller in the rear, you are changing the gearing slightly on the car. Check the rolling diamater info on tire rack.

275/35 difference to stock is 1.1%
285/35 difference to stock is 2.2%

The speedo is indeed off by 3.8%-6.0% between 30mph-80mph according to RRI, but any correction means you are changing the gearing slightly.

Would sticking with a 245/35 in the front and using a 275/35 in the rear be okay?
