Check with KAL tire. They have a sale on tires (especially the Nokians and even Michelin Pilot Primacy PA3 tires).

You might be able to get a very good deal.

Michelin Pilot Alpin PA3 (High Performance/snow tires. Great dry traction and also work exceptional well in the snow and quite well on ice.)

Michelin Primacy Alpin PA3 (High Performance/snow tires. Very similar to the Pilots, but they give up a tiny bit dry traction for about 10% more snow and ice traction as well as stopping power. Although, being performance winters, they perform better in the dry than almost all dedicated winter tires).
do you know if the PA3s are out for the oem 18" on the m3?

It really boils down to how deep the snow is and if it gets icy. That will drastically change which tire is best for you. I use Wintersport 3Ds and they're great, for me. If you drive in deep snow you'd want to look at something like the Blizzaks.

The rack unfortunately does not carry Nokian. I went through a local dealer but I think there are also a couple of online options, just not as established as Tire Rack. If you are set on buying something from tire Rack, their closest comparable tire to my knowledge would be the WS-60.
