Lucky 7's!
No issues. The story goes good parts went in the early model years when model introduction was foremost. And as others have said, if you haven't had the 'bearing' issue by end of warranty you probably won't. Good car.
I recently bought new front tires. 265/30 19 f, 285/30 19 r. The car has never felt better. Also had the Benvo tune last week. The car feels better in every respect. Worth noting: mileage indicator went from a consistent 20.1 to 21.0. And I've been gassing it because it sounds throatier, more eager to downshift under quick acceleration, and the body coding changes are convenient too. But this is about lucky 77777's Previous............ Just over 70k. I got the car with 54k. I know for a fact the previous owner had other wheels and an aftermarket exhaust on it. I had the key fob scanned when I got the car and all the updates and maintenance were done. Since I've had it I did the brakes, a few cosmetic things, oil change, K&N air filter, tires, rear tail light bulbs. Everything works on the car. Sometimes my driver's window doesn't close properly at speeds over 70-ish. It gets sucked out of position slightly and misaligns. It usually works second time. My plans for the car are a tune, currently Mike Benvo is in the lead. Yes a full exhaust, suspension upgrades, and everything else good would be nice but it's too much money. The car is already bad ass. As things need to be replaced, I'll upgrade. What I like about the car most is driving it. The engine/trans/chassis combo is awesome, the stereo is very good, nice leather, the fat steering wheel, carbon leather trim, the luxury/sportiness, the sounds it makes including the clunks and whines, and the things people say when they ride in it. What I don't like is the navigation, iDrive, some pealing plastic surfaces, M floor-mats faded. Last edited by 4corners; 06-05-2013 at 03:06 PM.. |

94k miles on my 08, CPO warranty is about to run out lol
I know the previous owner who had it from 78k to 91k and when he had it it ended up getting a fuel pump and all 8 new injectors to fix a hard start problem, which i think was a shotgun diagnosis that worked since the car was there for almost 2 months

104000 km on mine. I got it over a year go from the original owner and it had 70000 km on it. Since then I had a SOS malfunction software glitch that was fixed under warranty. Recently I had the notorious throttle actuator failure on the passenger side bank. Still waiting for the new part to be delivered.

Good thread topic... Get the extended warranty on your M3 IMO! I'm usually against most warranties and service plans since I figure I'll save more money overall in warranties compared to any repairs to my electronics/appliances/cars etc. I'm pretty handy and I like to do my own repairs and maintenance. Plus it seems the dealers/manufacturers seem to frequently come up with excuses that limit their liability. Well it was only by chance that the used M3 I bought happened to have a CPO warranty on it which wasn't even advertised during the sale... It's been pretty much an afterthought while I've been modding my car and everything is running strong. Well only recently my AC started to go downhill and come to find out the evaporator sprung a leak. Turns out it's a $500 part and a full day of labor to replace, so luckily this $3000 job only ended up costing me a $50 deductible. Lesson here is that BMW repairs can be really expensive when you least expect it, so unless you have a bunch of cash set aside for a rainy day, go ahead and buy that extra piece of mind warranty in case something really expensive pops up one day.
Just my 2 cents, happy motoring all!

I think it was 286 for the water pump 98 thermostat. CCA membership discount.

So apparently I'm the odd man out - '08 E92 M3 - 65,000 mi. I've put 12,000 on her in the last 5 months...she sure knows how to take it
No issues - but decided to purchase an extended warranty through USAA just in case.

I was really on the fence about whether I should try and spring for a 2008 E92 M3, and I just wanted to say that this thread has made me a believer. The platform seems to be holding up very well which suppresses my concerns that this car would be a money pit after 50,000 miles. Good read!

keep it up guys, do let us know any major issues that came about on your 08's, I'm keeping mine for a LONG time.
I have 27k now, I just calculated I drove 5k from April '12 to May '13. (21k miles since June '10 - avg of 7k per year) I just don't take any road trips anymore with my job and I take public transportation for work. I called my insurance agent and told him the pace, he switched me to low-mileage coverage, saved me about $120 a year. Last edited by mdosu; 06-07-2013 at 10:55 AM.. |

Also, if there's an issue, can you still use BMW Service to fix the issue and the bill gets reimbursed by your coverage company? |

Made it to 119k miles without any major issues. Very impressed with BMW and the M3. Sold it last week. Sad to see it go but it was necessary to move fwd.
