Boxster S laps ring in 7:58

The new boxster S with only a 5hp increase has lapped the ring 12 seconds faster than its predecessor.

Imagine what the new Spyder will do or the Cayman R.

The only thing unconfirmed yet is if it used stock tires.

I have to say the new design is really nice an the interior is beautiful!

No, it is unacceptable, and just a pure let down. Thank goodness, real drivers cars like a camaro and mustang are controling the ring.

If you took a new Boxster S and added the power of the base Boxster you still wouldn't = the power/torque of a ZL1.

The fact that you are calling a Mustang (which has no ring time) a real drivers car over Porsche's most balanced and communicative car clearly makes you utterly delusional.

It's faster or as fast as

R8
360 Challenge
R34 GTR
NSX-R
556 HP CTS-V
C6 Z51 Vette

and it has 315bhp.

If those Boxster/Cayman had just a bit more straight line performance , I'd problably buy a Cayman next , those cars just look fantastic to drive , but I need my fun on the highway when going to work !

Can't wait to see the next Cayman R !!

I think I'm going to be in big trouble when the Cayman S comes out, definetly looks like I'll be in a Cayman in the next 2 years. Hopefully I can hold off until the Cayman R comes out, which I project to be in 2014. I really like the boxter too, looks very aggressive, just don't like the soft top...

Very tempting, I miss the open-air fun. Might have to rethink the 1M.

As with many other 'sports' cars coming out these days, more power and dropping weight. Can't wait to see the next Cayman R.

Only thing I don't like about the 981 is how the rear lights are kind of integrated with the rear spoiler.

Chris Harris review. He's almost about to say he prefers this to the 991. I think he will actually say it when we get the Cayman S or R.

I've always prefered the boxster to the 911
Maybe it's the mid engine about
But it's a perfectly balanced cars
You can throw it around as much as you want, without fear
Same can't be said about the 911

I literally almost shit my pants when I saw that 'Ring time. If I had the money, I'd seriously think about buying either a new Boxster S, or a 2013 Boss 302. I almost bought the Boss over my M3, but I needed the four doors, and I didn't want to drive a cloth interior, no-nav having Mustang around every day. I already was trading in my '08 Bullitt Mustang with no navigation. I wanted nav, damnitt! Oh yeah, and the four doors.

Interesting review.

It looks really nice...huge improvement.

E-parking brake and electric steering would wig me out though...

I like the comment about the chrono clock - I've always thought that was idiotic also...
