Gintani comparison

Hey guys,

I'm looking into buying a Gintani rear section, but I wanted to get some opinions on sport vs race from people that have hear them in person. I know race is louder than sport and I know they both sound great, but my key concern with the race would be the drone. Right now I have a set of magnaflow mufflers on the car and the drone from 1k to about 2.5k makes my head want to explode. The sound isn't bad and I want the car to be loud but not with all the boom in the cabin. So i guess my main questions are: Is the sport loud enough? and Does the race have extensive droning?

Any help would be great!

If you're worried about drone, you should not be looking at a Race unit. Even the Sport is pretty loud.

I have heard the race and it is loud. I like it but if you want quiet it is not the exhaust for you.

It's not quiet i'm worried about, it's about how much penetrates into the cabin. From what i've heard, the gintani race is extremely droney.

Yes, it drones almost as much as an Eisenmann Race.

If you are at all concerned about that, you might want to even reconsider going Sport... Sport is already pretty loud in the car.

Man, that's disappointing... I couldn't imagine it could be any worse than my current magnaflow setup though.. Anyone else want to chime in?

You will get drone with the race system.

The sport doesn't have any drone.. but it still has a very nice aggressive sound to it.

probably 99% of aftermarket mufflers drone at certain rpms. i havent tried dinan but that it seems to get the best reviews in terms of drone/sound. My gintani sport drones unfortunately at abt 1900rpm... if u drive highway most of the time, its fine. If u r stuck in slow traffic pretty often, as u said it may make ure head explode

I have the Dinan (Mufflers only) and to be honest the only time i remember i have an aftermarket exhaust during "normal driving" is when i first start it up and when i accelerate from a stop other than that you only really hear it when you "get on it".

Hope that helps!

What do you want the exhaust for? Do you want a loud exhaust? Well guess what, loud exhausts drone. Gintani is a very loud, clean sounding exhaust that makes loads of power compared to other systems. If you drive like a girl at 2500 rpms all day, your gunna hate the sound.

Now if you just want a nice sound, and don't care about power then look at another company.

I have a Gintani sport system paired with their HFC x pipe. Sounds insane! Love it. Looking to take the cats off soon.

Actually the Gintani race drones more than the eisenmann race imo. I would shoot myself if I dealt with that on a daily basis.

I have a tune , pulley, hfc xpipe, and the sport (all from Gintani). Alex installed all of it at the same time, so I noticed a huuuuuge difference. I cant tell you how much of that was from the xpipe. No CEL

Gintani stage 2 supercharger is next. Hopefully next month.

My Gintani race drones in the 1900-mid 2ks, but ive either grown accustomed to it, or I simply dont notice it when I am listening to the radio.

If you are concerned with drone, look at the Dinan system.

I have had both race and sport mufflers. I had no drone with the sport but there is drone with the race mufflers. I also had the dinan mufflers with dinan x pipe before. That whole system doesn't drone. But you can't beat the aggressive sound that Gintani makes sport or race both sound good.

Being someone that went from an Eisenmann Race to a Gintani Sport to a Dinan muffler I can tell you that the Ginatani SPORT drones. Not nearly as much as the Eisenmann Race, but it still does. It is a relatively loud muffler for being a sport. I think on its own it would be fine, but with any x-pipes and high flow cats (or catless) it is too loud at least for my taste.

if you search this forum, you will realize "drone" is very subjective. I have the Akrapovic and don't think it drones at all, yet I let someone else drive my car and they thought it did. But I guess technically every system drones to some degree, I believe there was even a bulletin posted by BMW about the stock system droning to some degree.

It is definitely subjective with some people even liking that constant drone. If I had to place the systems I listed earlier paired with my Fabspeed HFC's and x-pipe on a scale of 1-10 with 10 being crazy drone the results would be:

Eisenmann Race 9
Gintani Sport 6
Dinan 2
