Does a 2007 M3 (E92) have a CDV (Clutch Delay Valve)?
I have read conflicting reports.
Some people say the M3 E92's do not have a clutch delay valve. Others say they had theirs removed, and yes it was there, and yes it was "a pinhole". And even other forum posts said that it was there, but completely hollow. Anyone actually remove a CDV (clutch delay valve) from an "early" E92 M3 and found it to be restrictive (eg: pinhole)? Thanks! |

I asked Matt Russell about this at the M5/M6 launch event at BMW of Austin, and he said, "Some M3s have CDV." I asked him repeatedly to elaborate whether that was a certain production date range, body style, regional spec, option configuration, etc, and he refused to go into more detail. Every post I've read from people who have looked has said that they found the little CDV thing in their clutch line but that it was bored out, rendering it completely ineffective, whereas the 335i's part actually works as a valve.
Judging by how much more forgiving the 335i is compared to my car on shift smoothness though, I'm all but certain that my own M3 does not have a CDV. If you don't have access to a 335i to compare against, it should still be easy enough to test. Raise revs just a little bit, dump the clutch, and see how jerkily you take off.

Getting my tranny oil changed tomorrow.
Will have them take a look. If the valve is there, I'll have them remove it regardless and will post a pic. Expect a picture of an 2007 (yes, 07, euro model) CDV tomorrow. Thanks! |

BTW, seeing as my model is pretty much the first year they made E92 M3... I'm feeling pretty confident that IF one was included EVER on the M3's... Mine would probably be it... Production date 07.07.2007.

My 12/07 had it but there was no restriction. Removed it anyway.

Just had my tranny fluid changed today.
Looks like my 2007 M3 does not have a CDV. Had a chance to snap a pic while the car was up. Maybe removed by the previous owner? |

Yeah there's a BMW part number for the lock valve, but it appears to be gutted.

CDV
After dealing with it on an e46 and e85 this '13 e92M certainly doesn't feel like there is one!
