Aftermarket bluetooth receiver on 2009

Does anyone have experience using an aftermarket bluetooth receiver for audio, while using bluetooth for phone integration? I'm wondering if an iPhone will connect to both and intelligently switch depending on a phone call vs playing music.

I bought a Miccus adapter

to see how it would behave with an iphone that was also connected over bluetooth as a handsfree phone.

Seems to work great in my 2009. My phone jumps over to handsfree mode with the BMW system when I'm using the phone, and switches back to the bluetooth music device. Exactly what I wanted for spotify and pandora.

How easy is it to integrate BT into a car that was not equipped with BT from factory?

Easy? Ridiculously easy - however, it's just audio, no remote etc.

SQ is MP3/AAC quality. Not great, but as good as whatever you are streaming online. I think it's max 2Mbps for BT 2.1.
