Do you guys bring your tuned vehicle to bmw for maintenace?

Guys,

Recently i just got my car's ECU tuned by the AA software. Now i am wondering where do you guys bring ur tuned car for regular scheduled maintenance?

Do bmw dealership really update / reset our ECU when we bring out car for oil change? Meaning we will lose the tunned ECU data.

Oil change, you're okay. They just reset the CBS interval counter. Though there are incidents where a dealer would see that your car needs a software update, and elect to flash it without your approval. I think this is rare, as it'll cost them time, and generally, they'll only do that if there's a related fix that requires a DME update.

I did up to 50k for the free maintenance warranty and they did not bother me about anything.. Now that I'm past warranty, I have EAS doing all my maintenance.

Yeah. They had to download all the data to the computer which took them 1.5 hours approx. and after that, they sent the file to AA and will need upload it back to my car about 1another hour.

I read their good reviews from people in X5 and X6 forums. And the price is awesome too since they are having sale now.

So, is it safe for us to be clear with the dealer to say that our car is tuned?

A Person from the AA tuning just told me to never tell the dealership that my car is tuned EVER while you guys are saying its okay to tell. LOL. Im consfused what to do..

I did not tell the dealer, flashed back to stock, but BMW NA looked at the car and seemed to have zero cause for not replacing differential under warranty. As far as I know they're the only ones who can tell if there is/was a tune (regardless of flashing back).

This is kind of off topic.... but are some tunes generally more "dealer friendly"?

It seems like Dinan is more or less ok to have, but what about some of the other tunes out there like AA & JB?

My SA at BMW has and recommended the ESS tune for my car. I guess it all depends on how well you trust your dealership.

Doesnt everyone get the latest software before the tune? So there will be no reason to update anything. Except dct i guess.

In la, or most dealerships, i think its really who you work with not where you go. Try southbay, mckenna. Generally more mod friendly. All the guys love it when i pull up in my service area with a loud ass exhaust.
