Example of how badly scratched tint can get in an E90

All four window are like this. Can you say design flaw? Never seen anything like it on any other car I've owned. Getting it replaced soon and also going to try the BMWNA avenue again. If you haven't heard it enough, E90 owners beware...

I thought mine was bad! I wouldnt waste your time with BMWNA I highly doubt they are going to care about a damaged aftermarket tint.

I know it's low probability (aftermarket and all that), just completely absurd to do this much damage when 1) the E92 doesn't seem to have this issue given the softer second seal, and 2) it isn't exactly unexpected to have a good portion of owners tinting their windows and at this point it is becoming a safety issue. I don't expect them to pay for my tint, just another voice that may help get the part changed. Moleskin coming up with the next tint job.

My previous E90 335 did that, but not near that bad, but it did seem to get worse over time. My E92 M3 does not lay down one single scratch. My E90 was an '08. I wonder if anything changed for model years after '08.

I'm kinda of glad I never bit the bullet and got tint on my E92, although it's just about a month old.

And @ the OP, BMWNA could care less about your aftermarket tint issue, don't even waste your time with them.

Thanks for the heads up....... no tint on my E90. Makes no sense to do a modification to do a modification on something as simple as tint.

I just installed it on my 2011 E90 M3 (yes, there is still no felt on the lower-inside seal) and the install was a piece of cake. I was able to get the inside seal off of the door by only pulling the top of the door panel off the tabs, I didn't need to remove the entrie door panel.

I don't think there are any problems with tint on E92's. My tints are scratch-less.

Say a prayer or get the tint protector (a product that is essentially moleskin that you put on the hard seal to keep it from scratching.)

This only happens to e90's, my e90 335 looks just like the op's, my e93 m3 looks like new. Not sure if 2011 solved it but I think it took a few months before mine started showing and then it went down hill from there, worse and worse as the months rolled by, or down...lol

First off, I rolled the window down.

On the front doors I started at the top, outside corner of the door (where the lock post is located) and pulled very carefully using only my finger tips, slowly applying more force until the first clip popped free. From there I worked my way across the top edge; there were four or five metal clips. I needed to be careful on the passenger side front door because there is a screw in the top of the "oh $#!t" handle so I didn't want to pry the top of that panel back too far.

The back doors are the same; however, I started on the front side of the door near the hinge. The backdoors did require a bit more force than the front doors.

Once I had the top of the panel unclipped I was able to pull the inner seal up by grabbing it in the middle and just pulling straight up.

I was sure to confirm that the clips on the door were still lined-up with the slots in the panel before I pushed the panel back onto the door.
