Rear Power Sunshade - Stuck/Sticking at Top position

Hello,

I recently bought a M3 E92 2012 Model vehicle, LHD.

I pressed this rear power sunshade button on the dash. The sunshade came up.

However, now it will not go back down.

When i press the button, I hear some clicks and i can see that the two arms on the rear sunshade are attempting to contract. They move just 5 to 10mm inwards, but not enough to actually put the sunshade away.

Has anyone else had a similar issue? And can you advise me how to fix it, or how to at least put it away?

FYI - this is my first M3 and I have no experience so far with dismantling and assembling the vehicle - I am happy to have a go though.

Thanks in advance.

I have an '12 e92 m3 with the power sunshade, however I've only used it a handful of times then I tinted my car. It worked flawlessly, haven't ran into any trouble with it. It should go down relatively easy if it was working correctly.

I had mine replaced under warranty for the same issue. I've used it a dozen or so times since (maybe 2 years) and it broke again. Just leave it down (it looks ugly anyway) and get tint.

Edit: to put down you will need someone to push the button while you give a nudge to the side bars. Just push them towards the center of the car and it will come down.

Same issue with mine. From what I've heard and extensive research, the motor is going out. You will need to replace it with this part. https://www.ecstuning.com/b-genuine-...k/51469149848/ Not worth replacing to me but if it's in your budget, feel free!

In case you don't have someone to help... I just sit in the back seat; hit the button; then quickly push the arms inward. You may need to be a bit of a Ninja to get it to work though...

What all the other replies said are spot on. You could also get something to 'poke' the button while you're applying pressure on the vertical arms.

Facing the SAME issue. Got the M3 1 week back.
It was going up and down properly before but today when it came up it's not going down.

I have a feeling the 11 F is the issue. The temps were fine till yesterday and the shade was working fine as well. Gonna leave her in the garage for a couple of hours and hope for the best.

Just a feeling.

Put a bit of penetrating oil on the hinges.
