European headlight switch - has anyone done this?

Just curious to know if anyone has changed their US spec headlight switch to the euro version to gain the rear fog light functionality on an E90. If so, let me know what you think if it.

Here's a link from ECS Tuning:

Waste of money. You can just take your existing switch and enable the fog light button.

I did. I like it. I got mine free though. If I had to pay, I would probably just do the mod.

I think that only applies to new cars.
I know in the 2008/2009 cars, you had to use a Lego piece to fill the space for the switch. On the E90 side, there's a Lego mod thread.

This is true and the basic rule of thumb...

If your switch has a chrome bezel like this [New Style] then you trim the legs.

If your switch has no bling then you have to do the lego method.

Wish I'd have known about this 2 years ago before I picked up the Euro switch.

Why would anyone even want this? I see this commonly on Audi/Porsche and hate the way it looks. Makes it look like tails are malfunctioning and one light is way brighter than the others.

For driving at night in fog and in particular rain.

One does need to be circumspect and pay attention to turn them off when conditions warrant, a skill some drivers do not possess, it must be said.

There is a switch for the M3 available without the bling. It only has the rear fog light switch. Got the switch through ECS.

ECS does not seem to carry the rear fog black switch for the M3 anymore, they have a black that has front and rear fogs.

I have no intention of adding anything to the front. In other posts, guys that have trimmed the tabs suggest pressing the front fog light on an M3 just turns the head lights on. Is this true?

Does the ECS switch have the light up buttons at night?

Thanks!

You can always find it on Ebay.co.uk and take it apart for the button piece alone. I've seen some for about $21shipped.

I did the mod to my car a few years ago...I only use it to blind the people who drive too close to me haha...

We don't have fog here so it's pointless otherwise lol
