I hate driving my 6 speed in flip-flops or bare foot. Has to be sneaks/ dress shoes/ anything other than flip-flop or bare foot

Driving barefoot can help you gain more finesse and sensitivity, regardless of whether it is "legal" in your jurisdiction.

No man should ever be wearing sandals or flip flops. No excuse. Maybe you get a pass if you are at the beach.

I was driving with Sandals the other day and it was terrible...

Mainly using the clutch was the biggest problem, because the angle of my foot would cause the sandal to dig into my foot.

So then it was barefoot

Puma Sneakers have rounded heels inspired by motor sports racing. This was my go to sneakers during my three pedal days.

+1 Puma makes a variety of professional driving boots and/or casual wear sneakers. I personally have many pairs. They are made well and in my personal experience, durable.

Puma currently has some BMW Motorsport Styles on offer. The attached is the ///M variant.

New Balance 623's. Especially slip-resistant. Just the right amount of "stick" to the pedals no matter if wet or dry.

Regarding that story about the driver losing control of her SUV and killing three people: I've not had a flip-flop get stuck around the accelerator pedal, but once my floor-mat got bunched-up under the pedal and forced it to go WOT while I was approaching a red traffic light, thick with cars crossing inside the intersection. Instinctively, I yanked the transmission into neutral and stomped on the brakes, then turned-back the ignition key. For a half-second it was truly a OMG moment.

I wear sandals (flip flops) a LOT while driving. I actually drive and heel/toe better in sandals than in shoes. Converse would be a second choice as they have very flat soles. If I have the odd occassion to wear a boot, it's almost like learning to clutch all over again lol!

If you really want a treat, go barefoot. I love driving barefoot.
