I prefer to operate my vehicle using sandals due to the orange county way of life. Do you guys ever drive with sandals? What are the performance differences between shoes and sandals? Anways feel free to post pics of you driving shoes, driving sandals , or just your feet in general

I prefer racing sneakers to be honest. It gives me the best pedal feel and allows me to modulate the throttle the best.

I would never want to drive with sandals. With a manual transmission, you'd have a hard time feeling the clutch engagement and on all cars have a terrible time modulating the throttle and brake pedal.

Also, if your sandal slipped off or got caught under/over a pedal, you'd be screwed.

I love me my Vibram Five finger shoes when I Track/ AutoX/ Cruise my beast. If anyone know barefoot technology, you'll know what I mean.

I respect this statement and you are right in every way....

BUT.... aside from my statement above... I DO wear my Sanuk flip flops quite a lot when just droping the kids off school.. groceries if ever in the ///M and what not... AND Yes.. I always look down and wonder how I do it.. But you know what, I would not be shy to Track in them IF you dared me to

Gee, I hope my last sentence earns me the Dumbest line award... But just saying... I could do it.. Heal toe and all.. Really

Vibram FTW!

heres a pic of me and my son rocking our Vibrams

I wear whatever I happen to be wearing that day. Loafers, work boots, sandals, whatever. Though I'll drive barefoot when I'm in sandals lol. My preferred shoes are the sports type of shoes, like Pumas or Fila or those types of footwear.

Exactly what I do. Flip flops are way too unstable to drive with, much easier barefoot!

Ditto. Sneakers or barefoot. Never with the sandal on. I feel like it could slip or get stuck somewhere.

Besides a shoe like that being unsafe to use with a manual trans, nothing.

If you must wear sandals, this is the safe/smart way to go. I got rear-ended once (in my old car) by a girl wearing flip-flops - she went for the brake and her foot slipped.

The recent trend of super-light running shoes is a good thing for drivers; I'm guessing many of these would be perfect for feeling your way around the pedals.

I wear flops all the time and drive 6MT. Heel/Toe downshift every once and a while in them as well. Never had a problem. I usually don't drive too hard while wearing them though.

Based on that picture, our definition of sandals/flipflops are different. I wouldn't be caught dead wearing those if the ground was covered in burning coals and that was my only option

I know this is trying to be a shoe thread, but your skill set should allow you to drive the same no matter what you are wearing.

Insisting that you can only drive with a certain kind of footwear is a myth you sell to yourself. Winter snow boots would qualify as an exception.

Driving barefoot can help you gain more finesse and sensitivity, regardless of whether it is "legal" in your jurisdiction.
