Just brought 07' E92 M3 Coupe - what to look out for?
Hello people,
newbie from e90post forum. I really should of asked this first before laying my deposit down. But is there anything in particular I should of checked with the M3 I just brought? Just couldn't resist when I saw it and I always always wanted one even before I got my first BMW, the 335i. Nice to meet you all. Joe |

Really? :O Thanks for the quick reply.
Coming from the 335i N54, there seems to be a fair few problems on mine - intermittent. So I was bit worried if there was any niggles that might show up. It's done 42k on the M3. |

Everything is condition based mate, so the I drive will give you a guide as to when oil, inspection, brake pads etc need changing. If you push the car harder it will be in for these sooner than later.
Visually you should be able to see whether the brake discs are in good condition, pads are indicated in the I drive and you just need to see how they feel under hard braking. Otherwise full service history, hpi, paperwork etc is all you need to really worry about |

I'd only want an alignment doing if the car has kerbed wheels or uneven worn tread - if not then it will probably will be fine.
The idrive will say when on oil change is needed and as long as the service book if up to date you won't need to do it before. |

Goodbye E92 335i...
Sadly had to say bye to my first ever BMW, the E92 335i. Had it just over two years. Loved it every single day and time I drove it. And the first ever Euro trip was with him.
But I guess I can't be too sad considering his replacement is a .... |

-the one thing I would check is the oil cap. there have been posts about this oil cap getting lose or leaking and spraying the engine bay with oil. not all caps are affected, but just a heads up.
-when driving on the track the power steering fluid will leak a tad - totally normal -engine is noisy and makes glorious V8 mechnical sounds your I6 Turbo Engine would never make - totally normal -change oil every 5-7k miles if possible vs. waiting for IDrive's 12k Congrats on the car! Welcome to the M3 club.

Tell you what... only just got car today and went for an hours drive. Very slow and steady. But I kinda noticed petrol / oil smell in cabin throughout the drive? Tried different ventilation setting - recirculate / open to outside etc. and i can't figure out if its traffic jam fumes or from my car?
I liked my I6 turbo sound, different of course. But the V8 grumble growl. OMG. BUT! I find it too quiet though the exhaust, seems very subdued I must say. |
