Jerez Black vs Le Mans Blue?

I saw a Jerez Black car today and it looked blue from up close, and black from far away. I've always been a fan of Le Mans, but I don't like the purple hue to Interlagos has. Can anyone shed some light on this for me, please?

I always thought LeMans was a 'straight' blue.

Interlagos has some purple. As does Jerez (lilac to be exact).
Doh! I must clarify, I don't like the purple hue in Interlagos.

The LeMans folks could probably confirm, but in my photo research and in real life (examined 2 up close), I never saw any purple in LeMans.

Jerez can have a purple hue at times, yes.

As far as I know, Le Mans Blue doesn't include purple or have any purple hue to it. I'm not 100% certain about that. I know Interlagos Blue is more of a purple-blue. Jerez Black is more blue-black than purple and most times if not all times, you will see metallic blue fading into black. It does have a small mix of purple in it and at certain angles with certain lights, it "may" look slightly purple

I have LMB and I'm glad I got it.
I'm not a big fan of subtlety or dark colors. So, in my selection process, the color had to come out without having to get close to the car to see it. That eliminated JB. As you point out, IB is close to LMB. So much so that, in pictures, it's tough to distinguish between them. When you see the two in person, however, LMB blue is deeper and clearer and, in the sun especially, has a pop to it that proclaims loudly "I'm blue!!" IB doesn't do that, at least it didn't for me.
Good luck with your choice.

The LeMans Blue Metallic stays "blue" whether in dark or bright lighting situations. No unusual shades appear.

The metallic (not overdone) gives it a bit of sparkle or "pop" from lighting sources, especially in the daytime.

I've never seen any hint of purple in the paint of my car.

IMO

LMB = blue
IB = hint of purple in some lighting conditions
JB = black with hint of blue in some lighting conditions

I chose JzB and still love it. Yes, it shows as a dark blue in some light; especially bright light or the morning/evening light.

I also like LMB. But it's not a butch as JzB - and JzB is more subtle. Matter of taste.

One last thought: IMO Fox Red is the best interior - striking - and looks great + JzB. Kill that w/ LMB - bamboo or black, then you're in 'vanilla' 535i country.

I am actually not a fan of Jerez. It can't decide what color it really wants to be. To me, the allure of a black car is that deep rich blackness that you get when it is clean. If you really want black, get black. if you want blue, get a real blue.

Also, because of the color ambiguity, the only interior color that I think Jerez works with is the silver. Just my opinion, of course.

Definitely a matter of taste as I think Jzb + Silver is hideous! I note that when I have been to "Die Welt" the 2 Jzb M3s I saw there (over 3 diff visits) the E93 had Bamboo + wood and the E92 had FR + Carbon. And you have to know that BMW are exceedingly picky about the colour combos that go on display there,

The Silver interior I saw in an M3 was in Silverstone. Fitting.

according to actual fact, JrZ black only has about 5% blue in it. But it does seem like a dark blue rather than black in most lighted/bright conditions. of course, when theres little like (late afternoon / night) car looks 100% black.
I have Jrz black, i'm usually a white car guy, but i love this color, except the fact that it is so hard to keep this color clean, just as any other black colors

jerez is a real nice touch in the sun.

But any blue seems to suit the M3 well.

That's true: but I'd say after living w/ JzB for > 2 yrs the optics display a blue-ish hue more than 5% of the time ( ie, 5% not = to visible hints). It does not take much. As I said, subtle.

Hence, the choice is subtle black/dk blue vs a clear blue.

I love my Jerez. Classy and just enough Flash. People always ask me what color the car is and I never tire of telling them: Jerez. =)

+1

And for any that like the idea of having an M3 with a standard paint color is not available to other BMW models, Jerez Black Metallic is the only E9x M3 standard paint that has remained exclusive to the M3.

OK So there will be a smattering of BMWs running around Canada with JZB paint. As long as they don't cross the border...

i had IB on order until the last minute when i decided to switch to Jzb after seeing two IBs on the road on the same day. imo, LMB is a gorgeous blue, while IB is just way too flashy for me. Jzb is probably better described as midnight blue btw, it's really really subtle but definitely there. love it.

LMB is gorgeous too, and so is IB in it's way. but i'm glad of my decision, Jzb with non-ext bamboo. wonderful.

LMB or jet black. I never understood why people choose Jerez over jet black :
