Navigation Auto Dim/Night Mode

The F series cars feature auto dimming/night mode for navigation when it gets dark. Is manually selecting "night mode" the only dimming option on the E9X's?.

How many threads are required to ask the same question?

Perhaps until we can find the answer "concisely". Search doesn't appear to bring it up. Would you like to point us to the thread that does

Search is not the problem...

I gotcha, thanks for presenting the relevant threads. I'm sure it was about as much as a pain in the a$$ for you to see the questions raised again, and pull the threads, as it is to not have such a simple function enabled on a 77K car. A 20k Nissan Altima performs the function without driver input. BassAckwards on this BMW

Thanks again for your time in this regard Technic

Mods can you merge? This topic will be raised again for the E9X folks

Well, a search turned up this as the latest thread on this question of night mode.

My 2009 E92 idrive has a check box to allow "night mode", but it appears to have no effect. The screen colors are uniformly gray on the navi.

I could have sworn that early on when I bought the car in Feb, the navi displayed a much richer palette of colors.

- Is this check box/feature useless, as per the above comments?
- Is a navi screen of a uniform gray background the norm?

I can snap a picture if it would help...thanks in advance...

You are viewing the map in "traffic mode" which negates/overrides the night mode setting.

This was the issue. Now in search of how to reprogram the "mode" button to switch between day and night mode.

You gotta code it into the module and need the specific communcation program. I had mike benvo enable that in the menu, but it looks like there is a module or something that is needed beyond just enabling that option.
