Dash Cam recommendations?
I'm looking to buy a dashcam, but I'm still doing some research and I was looking to see if anyone has personal experiences as well as recommendations.
One of the main features that I'd really like to a dedicated parking mode/feature which is why I was heavily considering the blackvue DR750S-2CH, but its definitely on the pricey side starting at $400 and I'm not really sure if I need something that high end. I have the BlackVue 750S-2CH with Verizon hotspot for 24/7 access to it, hardwired in. It’s not on my M3 (it’s on my other car), but it’s awesome. Audio, video, 2 cameras, GPS location, cloud enabled, and with the hotspot always accessible, and high quality video. You need the high quality video to make out license plates, etc, else it can be worthless.
Thanks! S. |

I recently had the BMW Advanced car eye installed. Not the hottest thing on the market but it'll do!

I have the Thinkware F770. Great camera. I think they have the F800 pro now which has an even better camera and cloud (i think). If you find a sale or group buy on these i would suggest getting it. They have really good video quality. The blackvue inst bad either, but in my comparisons i found the Thinkware to be better.

Have both front and rear cams; unobtrusive. The only change I did was to replace its 32Gb micro SSD with a 64Gb one. My rear window is also tinted (don't remember the %). Night images through the tint are reasonably clear. Day ones are as clear as the front.

I use a DDpai Mini3, $130 Amazon. 1600p, G sensor, parking recording (requires optional hardwire kit). Long cable included. What I like is the wireless remote. Allows me to instantly snap what's in front of me, then d/l to my phone later. Rather than fumble to open an app, or scan thru hours of recording to find what I want. Plus its relatively small (Blackvue tube design). Hides behind my rear view mirror, I can't even see that it's there.

Not that this is in the league of the others mentioned but if anyone is looking for a dash cam on the cheap, this isn't too bad on amazon..

Has anyone seen the Owl Cam? It has forward and aft cameras. Apparently it records locally and also uploads via its own LTE connection to the cloud so all video is viewable immediately and remotely via smartphone.
