Shoot, with the pedal to the floor, you'd be shifting every 2 seconds! I assume the car is asleep if it is under 3,000 RPM. I imaging it looking at me like this.

See the shift indicator all the time when i'm driving the Mini from my wife,it's all about the ideal shift moment and fuel saving !

When I have the "Power" button turned on, I get no gear shift indicator on the cluster.

With the button off, I get the # + Up/Down Arrow.

Is this normal?
Yes, it is normal. It is coded it, so it will only appear when the POWER is turned off.

Interesting, I wouldn't mind having that coded in next time I get my car coded.

I don't drive the car aggressively 100% of the time. When I want to just cruise and chill I shift at 2200-2500. The car does feel like an underpowered Merc though...

Yes,completely normal on a coded car,the shift indicator goes away in both power maps.Only active under the least aggressive engine map mode.

Interesting. I'd get it programmed for the hell of it. Doesn't hurt.

I think it's part of the efficient dynamics thing. This feature came stock on my July 2011 made car. I tried following the arrows completely, and I got maybe an extra 50km out of that tank. Not really worth the effort if you ask me. My Euro car's Auto-Start/Stop is an Opt out button, so you have to click it every single time you start the car or it'll shut off the engine/air con at the next full stop. For a 6MT car, I think Start-Stop should be banned. But this is how they get that nice gas mileage claim.

Just Gun it Flanders!

This and a pile other features can be easily coded with the BMWhat. Done a few codes, think I'll do this too just for the fun of it...

Just get an F8x it was designed for those m-philes who want low end torque and want to shift early and drive economically

The E9xM was designed for those that floor it and live for the glory of V8

But I can see where you want to code the arrows to tell you to shift right before fuel cut off well then ok

I just hate seeing the E9xM being driven in granny mode and that's what I usually see

Worthless mod

I documented this mod after I coded it on my 335. It is a nice way to learn granny shifting. It has no function when throttle map is not in economy mode.. http://www.e90post.com/forums/showthread.php?t=595543
