ESS VT625 Famoso Raceway 1/4 Mile Results...
Had a chance to run at a private track event at Famoso raceway. Earlier that day the car dynoed 586whp at approx 7.2psi, so I was anxious to see what it would do at Famoso Raceway. It's not a fast track like Sacramento, when my car was NA with bolt ons the traps speeds were roughly a 3.5 MPH difference between Famoso and Sacramento, but the DA did play a factor in that as well as the air at Sac is better, regardless Famoso is not a fast track, but I wouldn't call it slow by any means either.
I managed a 11.30 @ 129.34 MPH 1.97 60', not too shabby for a full weight car, at 7.2psi on 95 octane. The Vbox said 11.33 @ 130.5 MPH, 2.0 60', right where it should be, the Vbox normally reads a slightly slower ET, but roughly a 1MPH higher trap, so very close comparing the two at Famoso. I couldn't get full traction all night, but got decent traction on this one run, on the Vbox graph you can see some traction issues prior to 60MPH or so. I could not heat up the Drag Radials enough, if I could have I'm confident that a 10 second pass at 130+ would have been easily doable. In good air or at a fast track like Sacramento or one back east a 132+ trap is well within reach even with the traction issues. As I found from my Mfest results, the DCT did not overheat once, as it has in the past while attempting to do burnouts, the software seems to have helped resolve this issue just as ESS claims it does. However I still am not able to do a long burnout because the ECU is seeing the power and disengaging the clutch, I don't believe it has anything to do with tranny temps as the car on the very first burnout disengaged the clutch immediately when I applied the brakes. When my car was NA I could do 10 second long burnouts, this tranny has seen at least 20 1/4 mile passes with plenty of long burnouts when the car was NA, and the clutches have never slipped. ESS may have a fix for this burnout issue, once I have it I will go out and try again for that 10s run, hopefully before it gets too hot. Here's the Vbox run of the 11.30 pass, you can see traction issues before 60MPH or so. Here's the slip - Here's a video of the run, Robert was kindly enough to film as well, thanks Robert! A big thanks to Mo as well for setting this up, great seeing Craig (Mr.5) Warren (Hotrod) and Terry from Juice box, all of them ran some solid ET's / traps as well. A slightly modded 458 Italia +24whp over stock, hit an 11.1 @ 125MPH, with a 1.7 60', awesome car and the owner was a super cool cat, these cars bone stock have trapped 130+! Car ran great and it was a lot of fun!

With the Gintani kit? I haven't ran the ESS kit at Sac yet.

If I remember correctly I did 11.7 @127, with a 2.1 60' at Famoso with the Gintani kit, the Vbox said 128MPH. I believe the Sac trap said 130 on the Vbox vs. the slip saying 131.x.

Yah, it's pretty carzy huh?
I was there and here I was needing to take out every single seat out of my car to get into the 11.7s and here Drew runs 11.3 with horrible traction with all of his seats in. Great job again Drew!

Sacramento actually reads higher on the slip for the 1/4 mile trap, but the ET appears to be accurate . It looks as if the Vbox inflates the 1/8th mile traps a bit more than the 1/4 mile traps, but when recalculating in NHRA Mode you can figure out what an actual track would read for both traps. Once you view the vBox data in "NHRA mode," then you can see it lines up very well with the actual time slip. The Drag Times calculator allows you to reasonably compare changes in density altitude. It normalizes the results to sea level. Since I don't have all 3 timeslips, I used the vBox NHRA results with the Drag Times calculator to adjust for density altitude. These are the results when normalized to each other. ESS Adjusted ET/Trap: 11.375 @ 129.536 (Famoso) Gintani Adj. ET/Trap: 11.629 @ 128.013 (Famoso) Gintani Adj. ET/Trap: 11.381 @ 129.753 (Sacramento)

Thanks for coming to the event Drew, it's always fun to see your car run down the track
By the way, the DA at Famoso, according to the hand-held weather meter I was holding, didn't drop below 900 ft as humidity rose to 64% near the end of the session. Dragtimes's DA Calculator is a bit off as they collect the weather info for McFarland from the nearest airport, which is a good distance away from the track.
