Hey guys. I had new tires mounted and they charged me an install fee of $15 per wheel for the TPMs. My wheels already had the TPMs on there, am I supposed to be charged again? Do they have to take these things out and reinstall them just to mount new tires? Thanks!

I second that. They shouldn't have charged you anything for it. Unless, they are stupid and put ANOTHER set of TPMS into the other valve stem (The NEEZ EuroCross 7Model has TWO valve stems).

Ya, I think I got took. There is no way they put another set of TPMS into the other valve stem since it would have costed way more than $15 a tire. I will got back to the shop and complain.

I called earlier and acted like a new customer saying "I have wheels that already have TPMS on them and just need to change the tires. Will I be charged for installing the TPMS?"

They said yes and then I said "Why? the TPMS is already on there. You don't need to do anything with it." Then they said that the TPMS is attached to the tire and then when they take off the tire the seal is broken and needs to be sealed again. BS!

I'm going back. It's not the $30...it's the fact that they tried to rip me off! Actually they did already!

I would be furious if they were to charge you the $200 or so for new TPMS all together
Go in there and tell them you'll contact the BBB and States Attorney if they don't return your money. At $15 per wheel thats like 60 items off the dollar menu!!!

Haha, it was that Arandas Wheel and Tire shop on Ashland. That place is totally blinged out.

Well I just got back from there and had to complain for 20 minutes before the owner gave me $30 from his pocket.

His defense was that they charge the $15 if you have TPMS on your wheel because it is a liability for them. He said that he has broken a few of them in the past and that he had to pay for them so now he charges extra for wheels with TPMS.

You go need to be careful with the TPMS when mounting new tires, but no way they should be charging you. If anything it is cheaper since they don't have to replace the valve stem like you do with most older wheels.

They want $150 for alignment but can only adjust the toe...yeah okay

Besides they have to charge somewhere, who knows where they're getting the cash for their gallardo payment

Installation Instructions
Set Up Your PressurePro™ in THREE EASY STEPS!

One

Plug the Monitor into your cigarette lighter receptacle (or it can alternately be hard wired) and press the SET button to initiate programming of each Sensor into the Monitor's memory as follows:

2 Screw the first Sensor onto the valve stem location indicated by the blinking red light on your Monitor.

If this is not a location where you want to install a Sensor on, press the UP button which moves the light to the next location; repeat as necessary.

Press & hold the Set button for a couple of seconds to lock that location & serial # into the Monitor's memory. Screw the remaining Sensors on one at a time in the same manner as Steps #2 & 3.

I know at Discount Tire, they replace the valve stem part of the TPMS, or they rebuild it in their words. They charge $15 for this. After torquing it to specs, the threads stretch a little, and that is why they replace them. Just a small piece of insurance.

where are you guys buying additional set of TPMS besides the dealership? I do not see OEM replacement TPMS on tirerack.

Tirerack sells them. Just call Ben up. It is $200 for the sensors and $32 for the valve stems. I bought them from Tirerack and put them in my Volks with no issues.

Glad you mentioned this since that's where I buy my tires. I'll tell them NOT to touch them, at least the first tire change. No need for that until at least 50K miles IMO (and maybe not at all), which is maybe 3 tire changes on the M3. Just one more way to extract more money from the customer IMO. Take care.

Yes, they are hard-mounted to the inside of the wheels.

I bought this car from Motorwerks, but obviously you took the rims off. I didn't even know all the stuff you had on it when I bought, but the exhaust was the selling point. If you still on forums, any chance you still got those rims? Wanna sell?

BTW, yeah, I've bought rims before from arandas, totally agree!

I was told you only have to deflate the tire to install TPMS...not actually remove the tire from the rim.
